Vinesh Phogat grateful to Rahul, Priyanka and MP deependra Hooda for standing with them since day one of their Jantar Mantar struggle.
The hard lucked Olympian woman wrestler who was disqualified for enhancing just 100 grams weight having won prestigious Gold medals in Asian and Common wealth games too Vinesh Phogat currently contesting as the MLA from Julana assembly constituency in Jind district has tremendous faith in the leadership of Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi and also grateful to MP from Haryana Deependra Hooda for standing with them during their days of struggle at Jantar Mantar when she alongwith fellow women and men wrestlers she was sitting in Dharna demanding stringent punishment to the then MP and IWFI chairman Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, a powerful BJP MP whose writ ran in the Indian Wrestling Federation. She alongwith other women wrestlers have levelled serious allegations of sexual assault and harrasment of women wrestlers by the former chairman of IWFI. Vinesh Phogat said that she was immensely grateful to Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadera and Rahul Gandhi who visited the Dharna venue at Jantar Mantar and expressed their solidarity with him. Vinesh was highly impressed by the live and affection poured by Priyanka Gandhi when she came to Jantar Mantar , interacted with them and exhibited her adoration towards us including enhancing our morale by stating with us during the most critical days of our lives at Jantar Mantar. Vinesh said Priyanka also send us meals for several days cooked at her home and assured us of total support during our relentless struggle days saying that she can’t ever forget the support extended to us by Rahul Gandhi , Priyanka Gandhi and MP Dependra Hooda. When asked if Sonia Gandhi, Rahul and Priyanka will come to campaign for her, her reply was whether they come or not but their blessings are always with her and their fraternity reminding how strongly and solidly they stood with the women wrestlers at Jantar Mantar when they were in real need of support and being thrashed and arrested by the BJP government. When asked about the charges that the Dharna was the gameplan of the Congres, Vinesh disclosed that nobody knows that the permission of the Dharna venue at Jantar Mantar was sought by the BJP through Babita Phogat, wrestler and Tirath Rana. They played the game with us by lateron pressurising us to submit to the pressures of the government and give up but since MP Bhupinder Hooda stood by us from day and Priyanka, Rahul and others backed us fully we were finally successful in winning in our struggle compelling IWFI chairman resign and cases lodged against him presently in the court of law said Vinesh Phogat. Meanwhile in a message on X posting her interview Vinesh Phogat wrote : Two BJP leaders have sought permission for our dharna at Jantar Mantar. First they made us sit on Dharna and then pressurising us to do compromise. This conspiracy was of BJP leader against their own party BJP. Priyanka Gandhi and Deepender Hooda has helped us tremendously win in our fight against injustice wrote Vinesh Phogat in X .
