Uttarakhand’s folk festival Uttaraini-Makaraini was celebrated with gaiety, pomp and great fervour in New Ashok Nagar, Delhi.
Like every year, this time also Uttarakhand’s traditional folk festival Uttaraini Makaraini was celebrated with great pomp and show on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti in New Ashok Nagar, Delhi.
In this ceremony organized by Shri Guru Manik Nath Sarvajan Kalyan Samiti at Kalibari Temple, the indigenous residents of Uttarakhand got an opportunity to become familiar with their religious, cultural and social identity.
On this occasion, apart from the performances of famous singers and artists of Uttarakhand, children and youth presented folk songs, music, dance, drama etc. of the Uttarakhand living in Delhi.
Committee President Rajendra Singh Bhandari said that his organization has been organizing this great festival in Delhi for the last 9 years.
He said that Uttarayan Makaraini has great importance in Uttarakhand and the mountain community celebrates this folk festival with great pomp.
The purpose of celebrating this festival in Delhi is to connect the native residents of Uttarakhand living here with their civilization, tradition, customs and festivals, so that their future generations do not forget their traditions and customs.
Prominent members of the committee present on this occasion include General Secretary Mahavir Singh Panwar, Vijayram Bhatt and Arvinder Singh Rawat, besides Balam Singh Bisht, Harish Aswal, Purushottam Chamoli, Mamraj Singh Rawat, Mangal Singh Negi, Digpal Kainchura, Puran Singh Negi, Vijaypal Singh Bhandari, Hanumant Singh Bisht, Arvind Singh Rawat, Ramesh Panwar and Matwar Singh Rawat were present. Uttarakhand Ekta Manch, Uttarakhand Janjagruti Manch, Kumaon Jan Mandal and Uttarakhand Bhratrimandaal also contributed significantly in the event. The special guests in the ocassion were Dr.Vinod Bacheti and Anil Pant social activists.
