Uttarakhand’s 22 nd Foundation day celebrated at Uttarakhand Sadan

Two renowned Uttarakhand women leaders Roshni Chamoli and Lakshmi Negi organised a function and commemorated the 22 nd anniversary of Uttarakhand Foundation Day at Uttarakhand Sadan, New Delhi on 9th November, 2021 with good number of Uttarakhand movement activists, journalists and people representing various social and political organisations.

It was on this historic day that the then BJP led government after ratification of the separate state resolution with the support of main opposition Congress and other parties declared Uttarakhand, formally coming into existence after more than 42 sacrifices and hundreds of movement activists being jailed at the pan India level.

Attended by the representatives of various social organisations and political parties, especially AAP the meeting was presided over by the national spokes person of AAP Harish Awasthi.

Those who spoke on the ocassion were : senior journalist and activist Charu Tiwar, President of Uttarakhand Journalists Forum Sunil Negi, president of Uttarakhand Prakosht AAP Brijmohan Upreti, Guddu Pokhariyal, Mr. Thapliyal, Roshni Chamoli, Lakhsmi Negi, Asha Bamola, daughter in law of legendary poet Girdaji, Prabhaji, journalist n activist Satyendra Rawat, Uttarakhand Jagran, Prema Dhoni, social activist, Mr. Thakur, Mrs Meenakshi Kandwal, Additional Director, Rajya Sabha, socio political activist Surendra Halsi n renowned social activist, Mr. Baluni etc.

Several journalists and social activists including separate Uttarakhand activists were felicitated on this occasion with a trophy as a mark of honour for their dedicated contribution in the Uttarakhand movement.

Majority of the speakers while paying their heartfelt richest tributes to the martyrs of Uttarakhand expressed their exasperation towards the politicians of the himalayan state for their vision less approach, during the last two decades, not coming true to the expectations of the people and failing on all fronts especially with regard to health, education and job related sectors enabling massive migration to cities, towns and metropolises.

They voiced their immense concern over two national parties for belying the hopes and aspiration of the electorates and urged upon the people to work hard and with dedication to make Uttarakhand self reliant, meeting the aspirations of its inhabitants in true sense for which Uttarakhand was actually carved out of Uttar Pradesh after so much of sacrifices of 46 precious lives.

  1. Formation of uttarakhand is a total flop. And those who were in the forefront of a seperate state are completely responsible for this mess. Only doing andolan and drama makes no sense. What wwere the long term and short term goals ? The onus of implementation of goals were on the founding fathers of uk . Where did thier responsibilities go thereafter. Just forming of seperate state without concrete 30 years of planning either about infrastructure, migration , employment, healthcare etc is stupidity…
    By the way please convey my message to Mr. Shri Awasthi not to dirty the Ganga the way they destroyed river Yamuna once they form govt in UK n definately not fool people of UK as they are simple and grounded.
