Uttarakhand Welfare Association UK Hosts a Grand Musical Diwali Celebration in London


The Uttarakhand Welfare Association UK (UWAUK), an enthusiastic socio cultural welfare organisation needed to preserve and promote Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage abroad has recently organised a vibrant and soulful Musical Diwali Celebration in London, bringing together members of the Uttarakhandi community from across the United Kingdom.
The event, marked by music, culture, and unity, reflected the rich traditions and spirit of Uttarakhand on foreign soil.
More than 500 members and guests from cities including London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leicester, Coventry, Derby, and Scotland attended the celebration, making it one of the largest Uttarakhandi community gatherings in the UK this year.
The overwhelming participation showcased the unity and growing strength of the Uttarakhand diaspora in London prelude to pious Deepawali festival.
The evening featured captivating performances by renowned Uttarakhandi artists — Gajendra Rana, Meena Rana , Sanjay Kumola, Sumit Gusain, and Govind Sharan — whose melodious voices and cultural mesmerising expressions filled the atmosphere with the essence and fragrance of Devbhoomi.
Their contribution to preserving and promoting Uttarakhand’s heritage both in India and abroad was acknowledged and celebrated by the association and attendees alike.
In a special message, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami conveyed his warm Diwali greetings to UWAUK members and the wider Uttarakhandi diaspora in the UK. He commended the association’s continuous efforts in keeping the state’s cultural roots alive beyond India’s borders and in spreading the glory and traditions of Uttarakhand around the world.

Speaking about the significance of the evening, the management noted that the event was not just a musical gathering but a celebration of culture, tradition, and community spirit. “Even while living far from our homeland, our hearts remain connected to Uttarakhand — and that connection is our greatest strength,” they stated.
The celebration concluded with a collective pledge to carry forward Uttarakhand’s culture, language, and traditions to future generations, and to remain committed to community service and cultural unity.
