Uttarakhand police warn those collecting money in the name of Ankita Bhandari through crowd funding. Father refuses about giving consent for such attempt !
The father of late Ankita Bhandari of Srikot village in Pauri Garhwal district has outrightly denied regarding giving any permission, consent or demand for crowd funding in social media or to any group, person or NGO and as such a senior police officer has issued a warning, terming it a very serious matter saying that since the father of Ankita Bhandari has publicly denied – having given any person or group or organisation any request to collect money through crowd funding in their daughter’s name or family, the Uttarakhand police will initiate serious proceedings against such fraudulent persons, iin case they receive any complaint or such matter brought to their notice.
It may be recalled that since Ankita brutal murder case has acknowledged tremendous public and media attention and her family’s background being poor and extremely modest – certain social groups, individuals or NGOs are allegedly engaged in crowd funding via social media or different sources best known to them say news reports.
The Uttarakhand police has been acquainted of this fact and has therefore warned such fraudulent groups or persons ( if they are) to avoid collecting the money for Ankita’s family under the guise of crowd funding as the father of Ankita has outrightly denied having requested anyone to do so, or giving his account details.
The Uttarakhand government has also sanctioned Rs. Twenty five lakhs from the chief minister’s relief fund recently to the bereaved family despite the father refusing to accept it instead requesting for capital punishment to the human beasts ( the obnoxious culprits) of his innocent 19 year old daughter.
On being questioned by a reporter about his reaction on the ongoing STF probe Ankita’s father said he isn’t aware as to what progress has been made in the case.
Crowd funding is a foreign concept using carried out in Western and European countries to help somebody in distress. In India too this trend has started now and under the guise of genuinely suffering people, lots of fraudulent groups or individuals float their own account numbers misguiding people in social media highlighting the cause with compassionate n pitiable pictures of the sufferers and collect lot of money.
However, there are genuine people, groups and NGOs too but it is for the donator to be cautious checking the antecedents properly before donating a huge sum. In Ankita murder case too there may be genuine collectors in social media through crowd funding but since his father has denied giving his consent to anyone, such crowd funding should be stopped in Ankita’s name failing which they will have to be prepared to face the legal consequences say the Uttarakhand police.
There are news reports that people are probably donating wholeheartedly in Ankita Bhandari crowd funding initiative where a target to allegedly collect Rs twenty five lakhs have been fixed. It may be recalled that the late Ankita Bhandar murder case is being investigated by an upright n very capable IPS officer DIG Renuka Devi.
It may be recalled that the first investigative journalist n chief editor of Jago Uttarakhand who was the first to expose this case ( thanks to him) is a credible journalist. He has also generated some fund through crowd funding in order to help the poor family of Ankita Bhandari who was a major earning member of the family. Ashutosh Negi, a transparent journalist has in his social media post revealed that so far they’ve collected Rs. 49000 through such funding and shall be giving it to the parents of late Ankita Bhandari. Ankita and Ashutosh are of the same village ( Srikot) and he was the first journalist who had along with the traumatic father of Ankita lodged the complaint with the patwari and also highlighted this issue while the revenue police was taking no interest. The first video to expose the corrupt n inefficient Patwari now in jail Vaibhav Pratap Singh was made by Negi. Had Ashutosh not been so vigilant and dedicated the matter would not have been divulged. Thanks to him.
