Uttarakhand electorates seem to have lost their charm for 2 national parties. Will AAP prove miraculous, is a moot point?

The AAM Admi Party is gaining political momentum in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand especially after several local leaders that include journalists and renowned social activists joining it.

Some political activists of Uttarakhand doing business in Delhi having aspirations to contest the incoming assembly elections of Uttarakhand slated for 2022 have now shifted to Garhwal n Kumaon divisions in order to establish their political foothold after joining the Aam Admi Party finding scope for their possible victory in the ensuing election of Uttarakhand. If we go by the social media adequate coverages and the enhancing activities of the AAP party in Pauri Garhwal region in particular it has strongly commenced its activities in Pauri Garhwal district with a political heavy weight of BJP, a renowned separate Uttarakhand activist n a force to reckon with Mr. Jugran has recently joined the party giving a huge rebuff to BJP. Prior to Jugran’s joining AAP Digmohan Singh Negi from Choubattakhal, Mr. Chouhan from Srinagar , both earlier settled in Delhi n entrepreneurs being socially active have joined AAP and shifted to their respective constituencies working hard among the masses.

A popular name of Pauri Garhwal, a renowned journalist and crusader against corruption by raising people centric issue, highlighting corruption, former Garhwal University lecturer, chief of Jago Uttarakhand Ashutosh Negi also joined AAP few months ago who was appointed as it’s spokesperson. Just a day ago the founding president of Uttarakhand Prajamandal party and a relentless fighter on social issues of Uttarakhand who is credited with raising a widespread movement against illegal crushers and illicit liquor finally succeeding in pressurising the then Congress govt led by the then CM Harish Rawat have also joined the AAM Admi Party in Srinagar holding a massive rally seeking tremendous public response. In Uttarakhand primarily Congress and the BJP have been ruling the state for the last two decades turn by turn not giving any space to the regional party Uttarakhand Kranti Dal and other regional political outfits. There have been a general trend of both these national parties replacing each other after every election thus establishing their confirmed monopoly in Uttarakhand’s politics.

The Aam Admi Party that took birth after Anna’s movement in Delhi is at the helm of affairs for the third consecutive term since 2013 winning the hearts of the Delhi electorates by its various pro people achievements.

After being successful in Delhi and Punjab to some extent bring few MPs n MLAs the party’s convenor Arvind Kejrival had announced that they will contest in all the seats of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh in the incoming elections.

In Uttarakhand people of the state and even the rank and file of Congress n BJP to an extent are fed up with both these national parties, inclining to vote for a third credible political alternative.

After AAP’s entry in Uttarakhand politics with a bang, followed by the few whirlwind political tours of the next in command, AAP’s Delhi deputy CM in several parts of Uttarakhand including the state capital Dehradun, the morale of the party workers n leaders in Uttarakhand is quite high having tightened their belts to pose a strong challenge to both Congress n BJP.

The ruling Bhartiya Janata Party suffering from an anti establishment factor and Congress apprehensive of its minority n backward including lower echelon votes going into AAP’s lap are indeed a worried lot, but saying that AAP is a non entity in Uttarakhand with no political say at all.

It may be recalled that in Delhi when AAP had contested its first assembly elections after forming the party, both Congress n BJP took them lightly thinking it the party of no consequence but when the results arrived, not only did the Delhi CM Shiela Dikshit had lost her own seat but Congress that ruled Delhi for 15 long years, couldn’t secure a single assembly seat with BJP getting merely three seats.

The political analysts share the same opinion but not all. After suffering badly during the governments of BJP and Congress for the last two decades with migration breaking all records and Uttarakhand’s fiscal deficit crossing roughly 50000 crores with liquor, mining and building, land mafia allegedly having their fullest say, the electorates of Uttarakhand are earnestly in search of a credible third alternative, provided AAP n non BJP regional forces become a credible force to give a solid alternative. However, there I’d no denying the fact that the saturation point of support to BJP n Congress having seen 8 CM’s in two decades with corruption, inefficiency n unemployment, including poor health services at its peak, it seems that 2022 may say good bye to both these parties with Aam Admi Party government likely to see a new ray of hope for sure. Till then there is no option but to keep our fingers crossed.
