Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said we’ ve pledged and are implementing Uttarakhand UCC
The chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami while countering and dismissing the accusations of Congress that BJP is working on UCC in Uttarakhand to polarise the himalayan state said that the people of the state has accorded BJP their wholehearted mandate to implement the UCC in Uttarakhand. He said that during the pre election campaigns the BJP had made pre election promise to the electorates to bring the UCC into effect and after acknowledging tremendous mandate we have fulfilled their commitment honouring the people’s mandate. The chief minister was speaking to media today. He emphatically said that in order to honour our pre election pledge to bring the UCC into effect, we’ve formed an expert committee which spoke to about 2.5 lakh people, various political parties, representatives of various religions and stakeholders finally arriving at a conclusion to finalise the draft which will be presented to the government in a printed form. Responding to questions of the media the chairperson of UCC expert committee yesterday said that the new Uttarakhand Civil Code draft will ensure strengthening the secular fabric of the country. The chief minister said that the nation needs one law for every citizen, religion and sectt of the country ensuring gender equality as the makers of the Constitution envisioned it. He expressed immense optimism the Uttarakhand UCC will be the model for other states of the country, especially the BJP governed states. In a tweet also Uttarakhand chief minister congratulated the UCC expert committee for finalising the draft report by 30 th June as per the pledge given to the electorates of the state and said that the uniform Civil Code in his state will be implemented in the near future.
