Uttarakhand CM instructs DM to take strict action against the erring officers, employees found negligent in coping with water logging situation. Visits ISBT and Chandrabadni areas in DDun!

Though the entire Uttarakhand is reeling under threat of existence due to excessive rains and subsequent overflooding in rivers including landslides occurring at several places due to excessive rains leading to casualties and destruction as already happened at Joshimath and thereafter in Uttarkashi and various parts of other districts, the smart city of Uttarakhand and state’s capital Dehradun is in extremely bad shape with daily videos appearing in social media, showing badly clogged roads, streets and various localities including posh areas with people questioning the credibility of the present double engine government ridiculing its repeated announcements of making Dehradun and several other cities of the state hi tech smart cities.

The chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami today conducted sudden inspection in various localities of Dehradun with senior officials directing them to take urgent expeditious initiatives to clear the clogged drains on a war footing. However, major part of Dehradun is submerged In water as there is no drainage system In the extended areas of Dehradun where property dealers and builders are selling plots on massive scale.

In his tweet in Hindi the CM wrote : Today suddenly undertook the inspection of ISN’T and Chandrabadni area in Dehradun. During the inspection I interacted with the local residents and after understanding the problems that occured due to heavy rains from them, directed the concerned senior officers to immediately resolve all the grievances and problems of the local populace. I also directed the district magistrate to take strict action against the negligent and erring officers including funding the immediate solution of the drainage problems resolving them forthwith tweeted CM Dhami.

He also said that the reasons of the over flooding of drains and roads etc should also be found and the responsible employees should be death with strictly punishing them said CM. It may be recalled that even the MLAs of Bhartiya Janata Party of Uttarakhand had complained to the chief minister about the over flooding on roads, localities and streets of Dehradun due to clogged drains and the flood department or local municipal officers and employees literally doing nothing to improve the situation though the hard fact remains that lot of budget is misused during raining seasons for clearing clogged drains but of no avail.

A highly enlightened social activist and founder of SDC has been writing on these issues quite before the monsoon and warning the authorities of forthcoming difficult situation during monsoons due to improper and negligent working culture and planning. But his requests and suggestion were never heeded by Uttarakhand administration.

He even compared with Noida city’s immaculate good planning showing picture on his Twitter handle with no water clogged on roads and highways including the residential colonies urging Uttarakhand government to follow suit.

Through a tweet Anoop Nautiyal with a picture of Noida posted wrote : So great to see this in # Noida. Such heavy rains and yet no water logging. Why can’t we in # Uttarakhand take a leaf from the city and actually do something about civic governance, drainage and waste. It can yield great results ; reducing the water and mess in our sinking towns and cities.
