Harish Rawat put a “Gujiya in the pocket of the CM Dhami saying that he should present it to his neighbour and candidate from Haridwar Trivendra Singh Rawat who is contesting against his son Virendra Rawat. Harish Rawat and Trivendra Rawat though from different parties and ideologies but are good friends. It was during Harish Rawat’s tenure as Uttarakhand CM that the case of the alleged Agricultural scam was revoked on the grounds that no evidence pinning Trivendra as accuse has been found. Rawat also gave another Gujiya for the former Governor of Maharashtra and former Uttarakhand CM Bhagat Singh Koshiyari to create humour on Holi wishing that he take retirement from politics. Meanwhile in a post on social media handle X Harish Rawat issued certain clarification against the charges within and outside his party regarding his s initiative to promote dynastic politics by getting ticket to his son from Haridwar namely Virendra Rawat and his daughter already a sitting MLA from Haridwar rural. While speaking to media on this question Harish Rawat said : In politics, doing (public) service is a legacy, and whoever does the work will take our legacy forward. This is not property or land. Service (to the public) can be done through dedication, emotions, and intelligence.” Coming in defence of his son who is the candidate from Haridwar against the charge of promoting dynastic politics he posted on X in Hindi writing : My son or activist Virendra Rawat has since 1998 served as Congress activist in Uttarakhand since 1998 incessantly. He has worked in Haridwar and always stood by the inhabitants of every village during their thick and thin since 2009. He had been the president of Dayal Singh College under Delhi University in 1996 and was General Secretary of NSUI Delhi and had been the president of Uttarakhand Youth and is vice president of the state Congress now having also served in Uttarakhand Sewa Dal. The party has gh command has sought detained information on him. When it came to know and was convinced that he is more a dedicated activist if Congress than my son then he was selected as the Haridwar candidate for parliament. Veerendra is my son and disciple but I would like to assure you that in terms of service, dedication, coordination, development and harmony he will be more efficient than me, this much I can assure you wrote former CM Harish Rawat on X.
