Uttar Pradesh CM gives cash prizes of Rs 2 crores to Neeraj, Rs 1.5, one crores each to Silver & Bronze winners. All women hockey players given Rs. 50 lakh each

The chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath with the governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandi Ben Patel and deputy CMs today felicitated the Olympics Gold, Silver and Bronze medal winners including men and women hockey teams with cash prizes, citation and shawls at Atal Bihari Vajpeyi stadium in Lucknow in a massively attended function known as “Khelon ka Mahakumbh”. The total cash prizes amounted to Rs 46 crores.

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister has organised this special event to promote, encourage and inculcate the culture of sporting spirits in the budding sportsmen and youngsters of the state.

The gold medalist Neeraj Chopra was given a cash prize of Rs. two crores, a shawl and a citation while the silver medal winners, outstanding weight lifter Mirabai Chanu and wrestler, Ravi Dhaiya got Rs. 1.5 crores. The Bronze medal winners prominent shuttler PV Sindhu, boxing champion Lovlina Borgohain, Indian Hockey team and outstanding wrestler Bajrang Punia were felicitated with citation, shawls and Rs. One crore each.

While the men hockey team players winning Bronze medal were all given Rs one crore each, the women hockey team players despite not winning any medal, but trying their level best to perform excellently were given Rs fifty lakh each as a mark of recognition for their outstanding performance.

In all Rs. 46 crores were incurred in the cash prizes delivered to the Olympics winners that included 7 medal winners and entire players of both the hockey teams.

The entire cabinet of Uttar Pradesh government was present on this ocassion.

Seventy five players from every district representing 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh have been invited in this event and felicitated.

Kindly recall that after bringing laurels for the nation by bagging Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, the central government has also given Rs 75 lakhs to Gold medalist, Rs. 50 lakhs to Silver Medalists and Rs. 25 laks to the Bronze medallists.

The Uttar Pradesh government has also felicitated all the coaches of the winners of Tokyo Olympics with cash prizes and felicitations.

The state governments to which these medalist belong have also given them several cash prizes including cash from private organisations as well.

The gold medalist in Javeline throw Neeraj Chopra has so far received around Rs. 15 crores from different states n private companies, including his home state Haryana with a class one post. There is literally a rain of cash showering on these medalists after raising the Indian tricolor high in Tokyo Olympics. The prime minister had also invited all the Olympics medal winners and participants in Tokyo Olympics at Prime ministers house and congratulated them personally.
