UNITED LAWYERS ASSOCIATION DEMAND STRINGENT ACTION AGAINST CULPRITS WHO COMMITTED HORRENDOUS CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN IN MANIPUR. URGES TO BRING PEACE THROUGH DIALOGUE !

The United Lawyers Association had condemned the tragic Manipur violence that claimed several lives with few women allegedly raped and paraded shamefully including thousands of families being displaced taking shelter in various relief camps.

While demanding immediate restoration of peace in the strife torn state by way of holding dialogues and negotiations with the concerned parties the United Lawyers Association calls upon for strict action against the culprits who had committed the barbaric acts especially against the two tribal women in Kangbopki district of Manipur while it was burning.

While demanding peace and tranquility through peaceful negotiations with the stake holders and concerned parties for the integrity and unity of the country, the ULA considers it to be in gross violation of the Women rights as their dignity and modesty have been outraged.

The United Lawyers Association has while expressing its strong condemnation of what happened in Manipur said that the gross violation of Women rights is in blatantly disregard to the constitutional mandate under Article 51 A of the Constitution including under the provisions of protection of HUMAN RIGHTS ACT , 1993.

In a press release issued here the United Lawyers Association demanded immediate and speedy trial of such horrendous crimes under fast track courts stringently punishing the guilty of heinous crimes against women including under section 376 D of IPC and establishing peace through negotiations with the parties concerned at the earliest.
