Union minister civil aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and CM Dhami flag off new air service from Dehradun to Pithoragarh , will take merely one hour



The Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today inaugurated the first ever flight from Dehradun to Pithoragarh connecting Garhwal region with the Kumaon region’s Pithoragarh district.

The CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and the union minister Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naik waved the green flag to give the 42 seater plane a ceremonial send off from Jolly Grant Airport.

The chief minister of Uttarakhand chose the pious Ram Navmi day for the inauguration of this new service from Jollygrant airport Rishikesh.

A 42 seater aeroplane was given a ceremonial sendoff from Jollygrant airport for Pithoragarh in the presence of and by union civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu alongwith the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Praising the prime minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that under the able leadership of our respected Prime Minister, Shri @narendramodi, our double-engine government has connected many areas of the state with air services through various schemes.

Additionally, air connectivity has been strengthened by the extensive expansion of heliports and helipads, which are proving extremely helpful to the people of the state even in emergency situations said the CM Pushkar Singh Dhami.

This long pending domestic air service between Dehradun and Pithoragarh will reduce the travel time between the two cities to merely one hour.

Currently at least nine to ten hours time was consumed on the hilly routes from Dehradun to Pithoragarh. This is therefore a long leap forward said the jubilant chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

The chief minister said that there was a time when aur travel was conducted as the fiefdom of the privileged class and those from the elite catagory but now a common man can use this service from Dehradun and reach an extreme corner of Uttarakhand Pithoragarh in just one hour’s time said the chief minister Dhami.

Praising the prime minister for launching this affordable service under UDAN chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that it was launched to revolutionise civil aviation sector by connecting small towns, remote areas and international border regions of the country.

The scheme ensures that afforable air services is available to the common masses at reasonable fare which is within their reach to pay.

He catagorically said that air travel in Uttarakhand is a lifeline of its citizens as it saved their pivotal time and is affordable as well.

These services are not only transporting human beings but are an asset to supply food materials including medicines and other important items to distant destinations in short time and at affordable rates said the chief minister.

Elaborating on the details of the achievement made by his government in this sector Dhami said that currently, 26 air routes are operational in the state under UDAN. launched in 2023, the flights are operational on six domestic air routes under this state-led project of the UDAN said Dhami with the added strength of helipads expanded from 60 to 118 in the last four years under UDAN.
