Umakant-Vinay-Manoranjan panel wins Press Club of India’s election

The Umakant – Vinay – Manoranjan panels gas won the PCI elections on all positions defeating the two rival panels.
It is worth noting that there was no incumbency factor against Lakhera team in this years‘ Press Club of India’s election.
The relentless hard work and efforts spearheaded by Lakhera team—-against all odds —- for the welfare of member – journalists paid rich dividends as Lakhera panel trounced rival Basak panel and Ras Bihari panel.
In a contentious fight for the post of President of Press Club of India which was unforeseen in the PCI elections held over the last few decades, senior journalist Umakant Lakhera was re-elected as President of Press Club of India by defeating his nearest rival Sanjay Basak.
As a matter of fact, successively for the second consecutive year Lakhera was re-elected as President defeating Basak securing 898 votes against his immediate rival who got 638 votes. His another rival Ras Bihar received 156 votes whereas Satushti got merely 56.
For the post of Secretary General, Vinay Kumar of Lakhera Panel was also re-elected for the second consecutive year. He defeated his nearest rival Pallavi Ghosh of Basak Panel securing 823 votes against his immediate rival Pallavi Ghosh who got 668 votes. Other contestents Sandeep Thakur and Rajiv Nishana got merely 165 n 68 votes respectively.
It may be recalled that Pallavi continuously lost two times at the PCI hustings for the coveted position.
For the post of Vice President, Manoranjan Bharti easily sailed through the troubled waters of election and registered victory by defeating his main rival Pavan Kumar of Basak Panel securing 887 votes with the latter getting 578 votes.
For the post of Joint Secretary, Swati Mathur got elected by defeating her main rival Laxmi Devi of Basak Panel with a comfortable margin securing 870 votes with Laxmi getting 536 votes.
For the post of Treasurer, Chandrasekhar Luthra got elected by defeating his rival Santosh Thakur of Basak Panel securing 787 votes with a little difference of merely 11 votes, the contest being very close.
What is more, Lakhera Panel trounced Basak Panel in a 16-member managing committee. Deluge of votes cast in favour of Lakhera Panel swept away all the Executive Member’s posts with lead of substantial margin between the two panels.
Those who got highest votes in the managing committee’s category are : Aadesh Rawal, Kritika Sharma, Vinita Thakur.
