UKD, SWABHIMAN MORCHA AND CONGRESS ACTIVISTS SIT ON DHARNA AGAINST OPENING OF A LIQUOR VEND AT KHARA STROT, RISHIKESH

After several earlier protests the local representatives of Swabhiman Morcha, Uttarakhand Kranti Dal and Congress party have cumulatively sat on protest Dharna against the opening of a Liquor Vend at Khaara Strot, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand and the Vice President of Uttarakhand Kranti Dal who was at the forefront in several struggles like one late Ankita Bhandari case, Ashutosh Negi is also joining them in the protest.

The protestors are also demanding closure of the liquor vend at Muni Ki Reti where the murder of a young handicapped boy took place day before yesterday and the liquor vend staff were apathetic, negligent not stopping the brawl , attack on the hapless man who was finally brutally killed with more than 25 stabbings.

There have already been protests at various sites by the people, especially women against the opening of the liquor vends which are spoiling the poor families in Uttarakhand on large scale which not only invite hooliganism to their doors but also lead to criminalism as happened two days ago at Muni ki Reti outside Liquor Vend precincts where a handicapped youth namely Ajendra Bhandari was brutally killed by a fully inebriated criminal Ajay Thakur with more than twenty five stabbings.

Hundreds of protestors have jammed the Muni Ki Reti Trijunction in protest yesterday demanding immediate arrest of the culprit and adequate compensation to his poor family.

Rishikesh despite being a spiritual township have good number of liquor vends which should actually be prohibited.

In Uttarakhand the liquor vends have been opened on wide scale as the government earns hansome financial revenue every year to the tune of 4.5 thousand crores and considers this as the best revenue generation source though the people of Uttarakhand are becoming liquor addict on large scale and families are being spoiled on massive scale.

Meanwhile, the former District Panchayat chief of Bironkhal and several other signatories have submitted a memorandum to Chief Medical Officer , Pauri Garhwal district via CHC Bironkhal highlighting various anomalies in the functioning of the CHC Bironkhal failing which they will be compelled to agitate in favour of their demands.

The memorandum says that despite the state gaining separate state status the condition of the CHC Bironkhal instead of improving have deteriorated badly with patients suffering for want adequate and timely treatment even resulting in several deaths of the patients.

The memorandum states that the day since the hospital was detached from the PPP mode there is shortage of the gynaecologist and bone specialists in the health centre with XRAY machine inoperative and lack of technicians and several medicines and other medical equipments.

They urged the CMO PUri to immediately fulfill their demands failing which they will stage protest dharna and demonstration the responsibility for which shall be solely of the Administration.

It may be recalled that several months before a journalist of Aanwala news portal who exposed the illegal acts of an illicit liquor operative in Rishikesh was attacked and thrashed badly with lathis by his goons leading to his admission in hospital with grievous injuries on his head and leg being plastered. The former CM Harish Rawat and Haridwar MP had gone to the hospital then to know about his health condition strongly condemning this act.
