Two workers injured at Silkyara, Uttarkashi tunnel, rescue operation still on aggressively, slogans raised outside tunnel site

The rescue operation in the Silkyara Daandalpani tunnel in Uttarkashi, Garhwal Uttarakhand is still underway in full swing with National Disaster Management Authority, State Disaster Management Authority, Border Roads Organisation and Army personnel on the job with total dedication making all efforts to ensure that the trapped 40 workers of the company constructing the tunnel are rescued as early as possible.

According to the latest news, after the third day of rescue operation, today being the fourth day with no ray of much hope as of now and two workers injured yesterday due to falling of the already collapsed part of the tunnel, the patience of the relatives of those trapped inside is turning to anger and frustration with people raising slogans against the company holding them responsible for this mishappening.

The two workers injured yesterday though mildly are Yusuf Ali and S. Rana from Jharkhand working for the company looking after the tunnel project.

They were assisting the SDRF, NDRF and BRO teams in their rescue operation. Both the injured have been admitted to a ten bedded make shift hospital set up by the Uttarkashi district administration.

At present around fifty persons of the NDRF, SDRF, BRO etc are on the rescue operation desperately.

What is worrisome is the fact that the debris that have fallen from the already collapsed part of the tunnel injuring the two workers.

This has caused some delay with the rescue operation again started due to the injury of the two workers.

The ongoing rescue operation is being carried out aggressively with the NDRF, SDRF and the BRO officials busy in drilling the debris and inserting steel pipes to ensure safe passage of those trapped inside the tunnel due to massive fall of debris.

Meanwhile, a seven member committee to ascertain the reasons and causes behind the collapse of a portion of Silkyara Daandalpani tunnel in Uttarkashi has been formed.

The chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami also visited the accidental site at Silkyara, Uttarkashi tunnel along with the district administration of Uttarkashi and the senior officials to take stock of the situation directing all the officers concerned to leave no stone unturned to aggressively bring out the 40 trapped workforce of the company involved in the Silkyara Daandalpani tunnel project.

On the other hand while forty workers were trapped in the Tunnel at Uttarkashi the chief minister Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami was busy yesterday receiving the national chief of the party J. P. Nadda at Jolly grant Airport.

All the 40 workers trapped in the tunnel are completely safe till now, with oxygen supplied to them through pipes and other food items. They are communicating with their walkie talkies and mobiles and desperate n aggressive attempts are being made to ensure their evacuation at the earliest.
