TWO SENIOR LEADERS OF CONGRESS AND MLAS RESIGN FROM BUSINESS ADVISORY COMMITTEE due to UCC

The two senior leaders of Uttarakhand Congress has today resigned from the Business Advisory Committee in protest accusing the BJP government of Uttarakhand for being arbitrary in attitude and action. Coming down heavily on the state government, both the senior leaders of Uttarakhand Congress – Pritam Singh, former leader of opposition and Yashpal Arya, current leader of the opposition in Uttarakhand assembly has said that they are resigning in view of the arbitrary attitude and constantly violating the norms of the Business advisory Committee since beginning. They said that we have no option but to tender our resignation. Both the leaders have submitted their resignation letters written in Hindi to the speaker of Uttarakhand State Assembly.

In their letters both the Congress leaders mentioned : ● The second session of the Uttarakhand Assembly year 2023, which was postponed indefinitely at the end of the session on September 08, 2023, has been called from Monday, February 5, 2024 by the notification of the Assembly Secretariat (Annexure-1), the session is not adjourned. Due to this, this session cannot be considered as a special session.

And

● Through the Assembly Secretariat’s letter number 213 dated January 25, 2024 (Annexure-2) issued to all the honorable members, information of urgent public importance such as rules 53, 58, 299 and rule 300 will be issued from 8:30 am on every sub-session. It has been asked to be collected by 9:00 pm. Despite all the above facts, postponing the question hour and urgent public interest information in the Business Advisory Committee meeting by citing special session for UCC is a violation of the business rules and such illegal work can be done without the majority vote in the Business Advisory Committee. It is never right to pass on this basis said the letter sent to the Speaker of the Assembly.
