This brutal tragedy occured while shuttering of a huge bridge that was being constructed at Sirohanagad turned upside down leading to immediate deaths on the spot of two construction workers and six other labourers being grievously injured. This tragedy of the under construction bridge being damaged all of a sudden happened at 9 in the morning about six kilometres away from the Rudraprayag headquarter at Sirohabagad on Badrinath Rishikesh highway in which two labourers were dead after being buried underneath the rubble while six grievously injured who were retrieved after great efforts being treated in a local hospital after having been ferried in 108 Ambulances. This huge bridge being built under the all weather road project costing about Rs 64 crores was a double lane bridge which was affected due the unforeseen circumstances of landslides in view of monsoon leading to its shuttering being averted at Narkota, raising several question marks on the credibility and durability of the huge bridge being built at Narkota. After washing of a huge track of road at Pursadi few days ago, this tragedy too has raised several questions on the credibility of the engineers and contractors involved in this construction work of the bridge. Uttarakhand seems to have been cursed as natural disasters, accidents, man eater kills etc have become the order of the day with tragedies happening very often day in and day out.
