Two fmr Congress leaders, 25 pradhans and 25 zila punchayat members join Congress in Udham Singh Nagar under Rawat’s leadership
After addressing a massive rally at Dehradun, prime minister Narendra Modi is to address a meeting at Haldwani on 30 th December. What is interesting and rather surprising to note is that while the BJP higher ups of Uttarakhand are busy supervising the arrangements of prime minister Modi’s rally at Haldwani today, several leaders, punchayati members and Gram Pradhans have joined Congress under the leadership of former Congress CM and chairman of the state election committee Harish Rawat, given a huge rebuff to BJP with Rawat in a very encouraging mode saying that he is highly optimistic that many more BJP leaders including Dr. Harak Singh Rawat will follow suit in the near future.
Criticizing the BJP government, especially Satpal Maharaj for trying to postpone the Uttarakhand elections, Harish Rawat said that apprehensive to lose the Uttarakhand elections the present government is trying to postpone them.
He demanded early elections and said that not a single development work has been carried out during the tenure of BJP as majority of them were executed during the Congress’s tenure before 2017.
Those whose joined Congress in veteran Congress leader’s presence in Udham Singh Nagar were Suresh Gangwar and Renu Gangwar who had contested the elections in the 2012 assembly elections on Congress tickets and twenty five district punchayat members and twenty five village heads.
It may be recalled that Veteran Congress leader Harish Rawat has just two days ago got a free hand as an indisputable leader of Congress party after meeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi with instructions to other state Congress leaders to work under him in the ensuing elections.
There are news reports that after this meeting with Rahul Gandhi he has emerged as the strongest leader of Uttarakhand with his detractors feeling demoralised.
