OSD to several chief ministers of Uttarakhand and with former union minister Industry ND Tiwari as well for a long time then continuing with him when he became Uttarakhand CM n thereafter with Vijay Bahuguna, Harish Rawat, Pushkar Singh Dhami also being the principal resident and investment commissioner of Uttarakhand in New Delhi affable in nature, soft and sombre Shankar Dutt Sharma has breathed his last at AIIMS the other day sending shock waves in Uttarakhand circles. He was just 66 and was operated at AIIMS. He died while at AIIMS for a month post surgery.

He was a down to earth man always concerned about problems & issues of Uttarakhand . He started his carrier with ESIC & rose to become Resident Commissioner & Principal Investment Commissioner Uttarakhand .
He had a vast network of friends & a great ability to reach out to top bureaucrats in Delhi . Due to this great ability & acumen almost all the chief ministers of Uttarakhand retained him for same function . He was OSD to Late Shri ND Tiwari General Khanduri , Vijay Bahuguna , Harish Rawat & currently with Pushkar Singh Dhami.
A great lover of music & was a popular known singer in Holi Milan Programs, erformed very often n every year on the ocassion of Holi. I had personally known Shri SD Sharma for a long year of time . It’s a personal loss as well . He was a great friend & a great human being . Deep Heart felt condolence to the family . May his soul rest in peace said Pandey while paying his deepest condolences and richest tributes.
The president of Uttarakhand Journalist Forum Sunil Negi while paying his heartfelt condolences n tributes to late S. D. Sharmaji said that he was a very reputed officer having served with almost all CMs of Uttarakhand particularly with ND Tiwari since his hey days as union Industry minister. By his untimely death Uttarakhand has lost an efficient bureaucrat n a self made man who rose to great heights as principal resident commissioner of Uttarakhand by the dint of his hard work n dedication.
PHis passing away is a great lost to Uttarakhand society in particular. He was a good folk singer and an expert Khadi Holi singer who by his mesmerising songs and playing on harmonium during holi festival every year used to impress one and all entertaining his friends and music lovers. It is indeed shocking for me to know that Mr S D Sharma left us for heavenly abode. While recalling my daily interactions with Mr Sharma for a couple of months in 2011, I would say without any exaggeration that he was not ink-spilling OSD taking dictates from CM but a visionary officer who could envision for CM the welfare schemes that were needed to be taken up in the larger interests of people of Uttarakhand. He keenly observed the drafting work done by his subordinates ; and he reprimanded them for spelling errors in draft to be sent for CM’s approval. I couldn’t forget him because we together smoked many “idea-cigg.” in the staircase of Gopaldas Tower which housed Uttarakhand Resident Commissioner’s office at that point of time.
It is really discomforting to note that he is no longer with us. A do-gooder, he will remain etched in my memory.
Late Shri Sharma ji was a grass root personality who rose to great heights by dint of his hard work.
One can see the attributes of a उत्तराखण्ड in him.
