Tributes paid to legendary freedom fighter and revolutionary against the then cruel Tehri Rajshahi, Sridev Suman, including bravehearts of Indian Army in anti terrorist operations in Jammu region
The Tehri Uttarkashi Jan Vikas Parishad and Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha on Thursday paid richest floral tributes to the legendary revolutionary freedom fighter Sridev Suman and the bravehearts of Indian Army , including the five young soldiers of Garhwal Rifles who laid down their precious lives after 84 days of hunger strike inside Tehri jail eighty years ago and while fighting the Pakistan aided and abetted hardened terrorists in Kathua and Doda jungles of Jammu region a few days ago.
The condolence meeting was organised at the Garhwal Bhawan precincts where devotional bhajans were also sung by M.S. Rawat , the owner of Mayur public school and music played and composed by Sarveshwar Bisht.
Paying homage to the legendary revolutionary as well as a Gandhian freedom fighter, a blend of tolerance and dynamism against the then dynastic rule of Tehri Garhwal for their infinite cruelty on the masses and the fallen Indian Army bravehearts in Jammu region in various anti terrorist operations – the legislator from Tehri Garhwal Assembly constituency Kishore Upadhyay said that in the entire history of Asia and the globe Sridev Suman is a first revolutionary cum Gandhian who laid down his life at the mere age of 28 years after being forcibly fed with grinded glass, stones while chained finally leading to his 84 days hunger strike and subsequent most tortuous death with his dead body thrown in Alaknanda river clandestinely to keep it a mystery for ever. Though medically it is crystal clear proven that nobody can survive after three weeks without food or water but in this case of Sridevi Suman he died after 84 days of brutal hunger strike which is indeed a debatable issue.
Sources reveal that may be after his death, his dead body must have been kept unattended or under wraps clandestinely and declared dead after 84 days n body thrown in running high tides of Alaknanda river.
Tehri Garhwal legislator Kishore Upadhyay said now the opportune time has arrived when we have to debate on the burning issues of forests, water and land of Uttarakhand and save our hills from the ongoing exploitation of its natural wealth and the degrading ecological balance and environment.
Tehri Garhwal , Pauri Garhwal and entire Uttarakhand had bravehearts like Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali, who raised the banner of revolt against the then colonial British in 1930 in Peshawar giving rise to the spark of freedom struggle , Sridev Suman and Nagendra Saklani who were brutally fallen to death after the then king of Tehri ordered killing them who were fighting for the freedom of Tehri from the clutches of the then Tehri Garhwal Rajshahi.
They have laid down their precious lives for our comfort, freedom and giving the new generation prosperous lives but we are doing nothing concrete or credible to imbibe their ideals and principles rather squeezed to our own self interests said the Garhwal MLA.
Kishore Upadhyay said that now is the time that the people of Uttarakhand should come forward and think over the burning issues of Uttarakhand like degrading environment, its ecology, the lot of the people and how to improve Uttarakhand into a viable , strong, healthy and a prosperous state.
Then only will we be able to truly pay our real respects to these fallen bravehearts said Kishore Upadhyay.
Referring to the name of the legendary treeman of Uttarakhand Visheshwar Prasad Saklani, Tehri MLA Kishore Upadhyay said that he is no more but in his entire life he had planted massive numbers of 50 lakh trees and today according to government estimate a tree is worth of Rs 75000.
Therefore on the maximum plantation aspect we should go for it and make our forests more cohesive and strengthen the lungs making them healthy thus paying the real tributes to our freedom fighters and revolutionaries including the India Army bravehearts who martyred themselves for a prosperous, safe and strong India.
