After more than ten days of hectic exercise amid news about BJP’s top leadership not being able to decide on the CM nominees in the three states, the saffron party BJP high command finally succeeded in announcing the name of a tribal leader and former union minister as the new chief minister of Chhattisgarh unambiguously indicating that the prime minister Narendra Modi has accorded full credence to the tribals of the state who dominate 32 % of its population not being given priority in power sharing earlier.
The name of the new chief minister of Chhattisgarh is VISHNU DEV SAI who was elected as the leader of BJP legislature party among the 54 newly elected saffron party state lawmakers today.
Kindly recall that in the 90 member Chhattisgarh assembly the Bhartiya Janata, Party has won on 54 seats where as the previously ruling party Congress has to satisfy with 35 MLAs only.
In the new assembly of 90 MLAs there are 72 MLAs as Crorepatis whereas BJP has 43 Crorepatis MLAs.
In the previous assembly election, the Congress party had 68 MLAs.
It is said that when union home minister Amit Shah campaigned in Chattisgarh’s Kunkuri while addressing a rally he said if you will make VISHNU DEV SAI as MLA he will make him a big man.
Kunkuri is in Sarguja region from where not only VISHNU Dev Sai had won with a heavy margin of 25,541 votes but the BJP won from all the 14 assembly constituencies making a record of sort dominated by tribal population.
The new chief minister of Chattisgarh VISHNU Dev Sai had been a union minister and MP number of times commencing his socio political career from grass roots as a village Sarpanch.
From 2020 to 2022 he was the state BJP president and also in the national executive. However, he got a big break as a state union steel minister after PM Modi inducted him in his cabinet for the first time.
Starting his career in 1989 Vishnu Dev Sai was the Sarpanch of the Sagiya Gram Panchayat followed by becoming MLA from Tapkara Assembly constituency . He had been the state BJP president twice in 2006 and 2020.
According to party sources while Vishnu Dev Sai has been elected the next CM of Chhattisgarh with government positively responding to the Chhattisgarh’s tribal communities who voted en masse for the saffron party this time, the three term CM Raman Singh is, all set to be the speaker in the state assembly and BJP state chief Arun Rao of OBC community and Vijay Sharma to be nominated as deputy CMs of the state.
