There have been regular complaints of outsiders under the guise of being tourists are open sitting semi naked only in underwear with several families and wimen sitting nearby on the bank of Ganges. These persons openly drunk beers and get inebriated. When objected there youths from other states Haryana, Delhi etc say that they are drinking bear not in the Ganges but outside the Ganga. They have no fear of laws or the police. The families on the bank of Ganges at Rishikesh etc feel insecure and can’t confront these young healthy boys in underwear only. Certain videos have been posted in social media in this regard but there is hardly any action against such disgruntled people. One will understand that liquor is illegal to drink in public places and on the bank of pious Ganges in open public glare if drunk by anyone is more illegal and a punishable offence. The police should take suo moto cognizance of such incidents and restruct drinking on Ganga banks as it’s against the law and undesirable as well in wider public interest and maintaining law and order in the society.
