The prominent director, producer, script writer and even actor Tigmanshu Dhulia is in the news these days at least in Uttarakhand whose video with a clipping about his bold version of changing the Uttarakhand government by all means in front of the chief guest Uttarakhand speaker Ritu Khanduri is going viral in social media. The occasion was the third annual function of the prestigious Bhairav Dutt Dhulia Foundation journalist award ceremony at Kotdwar , Pauri Garhwal. The Uttarakhand speaker who is also the local MLA from here was the chief guest to distribute this journalist award to one of the leading journalists of this year in Uttarakhand. Several dignitaries spoke on the occasion and the chance of Paan Singh Tomar fame filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia too came to speak from the podium. Outspoken Tigmanshu Dhulia in one of the sentences emphatically though in a casual mood said let’s derail the ruling party government , let’s toss this government to the ground, at least in Uttarakhand. And I promise you I will do it. Speaking such harsh words in front of the chief guest who is the speaker and happens to be from the ruling party, needs guts and gumption and Tigmanshu did it inviting many claps and cheers from the audience in his own family function unambiguously indicating that people too are fully agreeing to what the Bollywood filmmaker said. The way he was speaking casually but chalking the ruling party political dispensation in his home state in front of the speaker who was the chief guest definitely shocked One and all as no one would actually expect from a speaker , at least not the chief guest whose party rules in the state. WOW. What a bravery ?
One of the leading journalists of Kotdwar based Uttarakhand Mr. Mishra wrote in Hindi on this development who might definitely be in this significant event. He wrote on his social media post in Hindi :
…Tigmanshu said a big thing in two words
If late Bhairav Dutt Dhulia ji were alive in today’s situation, what would he have done…? This question was raised by one or two senior journalists during their address at the felicitation ceremony organized in memory of Dhulia ji last Sunday.
It is said that even in the current circumstances, Dhulia ji never allowed the voice of protest and ideas arising from the public to be suppressed. In such a situation, he had the courage to express his disagreement and stand up in protest even in front of party leadership like Gandhi and Nehru.
But, what would Dhulia ji have done in the current worsening situation of crushing the voice of protest/dissent?
After reading the citation given to senior journalist Ramesh Pahadi ji who was honoured with the late Bhairav Dutt Dhulia III Memorial Award, Tigmanshu Dhulia, a member of the Dhulia family and producer, director and actor of the Hindi film industry Bollywood, replied in a few words, acknowledging tremendous applause. He said this while addressing the Assembly Speaker/regional MLA Ritu Bhushan Khanduri who was present as the chief guest at the function… In the end of his brief post Mishraji wrote in a note that (I was unable to find this video clip of the ceremony even after a lot of efforts. Even in the videos that I found, this part was edited and removed. I was able to get this clip from Shri Anusuya Prasad Malasi’s post late at night through a close person. I am grateful to both the gentlemen.)
