Three time UP CM n fmr defence minister SP Patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav aka Netaji dies at Medanta, Gurugram

The three term chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, former defence minister, Samajwadi Party chief patron and former president Mulayam Singh Yadav aka, Netaji is no more. He breathed his last at the Medanta hospital in Gurugram on October 10 morning where he was admitted on 2nd October and was on ventilator since then. The oxygen level of Mulayam Singh has to be increased and was revived after three days after his condition deteriorated further. He died of prolonged illness as since August his health condition started deteriorating and was admitted at Medanta to be relived finally readmitted on October 2 nd. A Dr Ram Manohar Lohia follower and hard core socialist Mulayam Singh Yadav was on ventilator since October 2 at Medanta hospital with no life saving medicines working on him including oxygen levels decreasing in between. After learning about the sad demise of the Samjwadi Party patriarch and former UP CM n union minister Mulayam Singh Yadav the President and prime minister expressed their deepest condolences. The president Draupadi Murmu in her Hindi tweet said : The death of Shri Mulayam Singh Rawat is an irreparable loss to the nation. Hailing from a modest family his achievements were outstanding. A leader of the masses n fully grounded Mulayamji was connected with grassroots n was a stalwart leader. He was revered by the leaders of all political parties across party and ideological affiliations. My deepest condolences to his family and supporters tweeted President of India.

Narendra Modi issued three back to back tweets expressing his deepest condolences with photographs of his various meetings and interaction with the veteran socialist leader.

Prime minister tweeted : Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav was a remarkable personality. He was widely admired as a humble and grounded leader who was sensitive to people’s problems. He served people diligently and devoted his life towards popularising the ideals of Loknayak JP and Dr. Lohia.

He distinguished himself in UP and national politics and was a key soldier for democracy during emergency. As defence minister he worked for a stronger India. His parliamentary interventions were insightful and emphasised on furthering national interests.

Continuing with his tweet prime minister Narendra Modi said : I had many interactions with Mulayam Singh Yadavji when we served as chief Ministers of our respective states. The close association continued and I always looked forward to hearing his views. His, demise pains me. Condolences to his family and lakhs of supporters. Rising from a wrestler then primary teacher of Ittawah to being a political stalwart Mulayam Singh Yadav was considered as a hard core secularist leader more inclined towards the minority community earning tremendous respects among Muslims. His political career has been highly chequered having been in close proximity with the Samajwadi founder n ideologue Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia and leader of total revolution Jai Prakash Narayan.

There had been accusations on him for promoting his family dynasty and near relatives in politics and allegedly been accused by Uttarakhand inhabitants for taking several lives during the 1994 Mujaffar Nagar massacre by giving his nod to the then DM Mujaffar Nagar and UP police when several hundred peaceful Uttarakhand supporters of separate Uttarakhand movement were heading towards Red Fort Rally.

Several women were also raped n killed in this firing. Several petitions were filed against him in Supreme court and Allahabad, now Prayagraj.

Mulayam Singh Yadav had witnessed several twists and turns in his political life of over six decades and had represented UP thrice as its CM including being a defence minister at the centre.

With the help of his one time high profile political colleage Amar Singh, Mulayam Singh welcomed top industrialists like Ambanies in his party including top celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Raj Babbar, Jaya Bachchan and Jaya Prada etc making Jaya Bachchan and Jaya Prada as Samajwadi Party MPs etc.

Mulayam Singh’s second wife Sadhna Gupta Singh also died in 2022 and was twenty years younger to Mr. Yadav.

SP patriarch Mulayam Singh died at the age of 83.

Kindly recall that veteran SP leader Mulayam Singh was MP for seven terms winning Lok Sabha seats ten term state law maker, three term UP CM n union Defence minister apart from his being a SP patriarch and a staunch socialist leader of national stature.
