Three member High level committee meets ENPO stake holders n cross section of people on Frontier Nagaland demand.

The Eastern Nagaland People’s organisation representing the seven tribes of six eastern districts of Nagaland viz Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire, Longleng, Noklak and Shamator fighting peacefully demanding separate state called Frontier Nagaland led by its president Mangko had submitted a memorandum to the prime minister in 2010 urging to grant them the separate state. In the month of January they had organised a massive rally in support of their demand attended by over ten thousand tribals. The rally was a grand success as the large attendance of the tribal participants was truly the matter of immense worry for the state as well as the central government, particularly because the ENPO has threatened to boycott the next assembly elections in case their separate state demand is not met forth with. Thousands of the tribals demanded in one voice – grant of separate “Frontier Nagaland” status to the Eastern population especially after their discrimination on issues such as employment and socio political and economic devlopment. Its president Mangko catagorically said that if their demands are not met they will abide by their unanimous resolution of boycotting the assembly elections due for early next year. Meanwhile, sensing the urgency to resolve this crucial issue the Union home minister Amit Shah dispatched a three member high level committee comprising of the ministerial advisor A. K. Mishra, Joint Director of the Intelligence Bureau Mandeep Singh Tull and Union Home ministry’s North East Division’s director A. K. Dhyani. The committee met the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation’s representatives as well as cross section of the civil society representatives for the past two days to weigh the various pros and cons of the separate state demand. The three member high level committee catagorically conveyed to the ENPO and its various tribal units about the seriousness of the central government and the Union home minister towards their demand which is why the high level committee of Home ministry has been sent to assess the views of cross section of the people as per the news reports. Keeping in view the seriousness of the central government over this issue – the ENPO stakeholders were given a patient hearing exhibiting that the government is seriously interested to resolve this long pending issue. The three member committee’s two member Mr. Mandeep Singh Tull, joint director of Intelligence and Mr. A. K. Dhyani senior Director of North Eastern Region in Ministry of home affairs also met several experienced senior citizens, officers of the district government machinery including Hindu and Muslim community members and deliberated on this issue thread bare. After their full exercise of meeting and conversing with various section of the people including government officials and the ENPO stake holders the committee members also clicked for photograph with ENPO members n other stake holders to instill in them a sense of confidence and assurance. The team also met the CM Nagaland on Monday. The Union government seems to be extremely serious on this issue in view of the already existing fragile position in Arunachal Pradesh, Tawang and Ladakh where India is in face off situation with Expansionist China. The North Eastern sector is very crucial for India as China’s previous misadventures in Dollar, Sikkim, Ladakh and Galway including the most recent one in Tawang is well known to everyone.
