Thousands of Uttarakhandies light candles n Diya in solidarity to the just cause of Nirbhaya of Najafgarh, hailing from Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand !

Despite the call given by Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha, a biggest social organisation of Garhwalies n Uttarakhand is in Delhi not a, single member of parliament or lawmaker of either party, BJP or Congress have lighted a candle or a lamp in support of the Damini of Najafgarh primarily hailing from Uttarakhand.

Kindly recall that the three culprits who’d obnoxiously gang raped the 19 year old Damini of Najafgarh on February 9, 2012 after being abducted from Qutub Cigar, Najafgarh was there after brutally killed and the convicts were sentenced to death by the lower Dwarka court and there after upheld by Delhi High Court.

After ten years of hard exercise and tremendous efforts by the hapless n poor parents of the deceased girl the apex court acquitted all the three culprits, blaming the Delhi Police for paths investigations annoying the Uttarakhand’s populace, who opposed it tooth and nail, holding numerous candle marches and protest demonstrations at pan India level demanding death to the gruesome murderers n rapists.

The Uttarakhand Samaj in Delhi called for a candle lightening campaign on 20 th November at 9.00 PM to express solidarity to the just cause of giving justice to the Nirbhaya of Najafgarh.

As a, sequel to it a call was given to light a candle or a diya in support of the cause. The request was highlighted in social media intensely but not a single MP of Uttarakhand, MLA or leaders of opposition participated in this, exercise as if it is of no concern to them.

The people of Uttarakhand have expressed their tremendous annoyance to this non cooperative attitude of the ruling party MPs and MLAs including the Uttarakhand CM. While hundreds of Uttarakhand is lit a candle on 20 th November at 9 PM night expressing solidarity to the cause including the Delhi Press Club of India chief and senior journalist Umakant Lakhera and former principal secretary to Tripura governor and DG environment Dr. V. k. Bahuguna the people associated with this noble cause have felt bad that public representatives voted to power by them have not stood with them at the time when their services were actually needed.
