Though late, after tragic murder of Ankita, UK speaker urges CM Pushkar Singh Dhami to establish police stations n posts in interior villages in place of revenue police system !
Why is it that our leaders whom we call our fortune makers are proactive only after most tragic murders and alleged rapes are committed on innocent girls like 19 year old Ankita Bhandari rape and murder by pushing her into Chila Canal after thrashing by three culprits, one the sone of a BJP leader n former minister and brother of an OBC vice chairman. While the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has exhibited tremendous energy in demolishing the resort by a bulldozer and expelling the father of the main culprit Dr. Vinod Arya and brother Ankit from BJP, the Uttarakhand speaker who’d revoked all the previous appointments in Vidhan Sabha has shot a letter to the chief minister urging him to modify the revenue police system to regular police and establishing police posts in interior villages. Expressing her immense annoyance on the dereliction of duties by revenue officials including the patwari n other senior officers in Ankita Bhandari murder case, the Uttarakhand speaker Ritu Khanduri, daughter of former CM Major general retired B. C Khanduri has urged the CM to immediately revoke the revenue police system in areas of Uttarakhand converting it into regular police providing police stations n police posts at the earliest thus issuing urgent directives in this regard. In her letter to Uttarakhand CM Ritu khanduri has expressed her reservation that during this modern times while police is lodging zero FIRs and investigating cases of atrocities against women n other crimes, in Uttarakhand the revenue police without adequate training and equipments are investigating the serious case of Ankit Bhandari’s gruesome murder. This is indeed extremely anguishing and painful wrote Uttarakhand speaker. Blaming the revenue police for dereliction of duties and laxity in Ankita murder case Ritu Khanduri further wrote, had the the case been with the regular police the life of the victim Ankita could have been saved n would have been in out midst added speaker Ritu Khanduri. Urging the CM to establish police stations n police posts in Uttarakhand with immediate effect she said she would be indebted and grateful to the CM Dhami.
Kindly recall that the revenue police system was introduced by the Britishers in 1861 in the hills of Garhwal n Kumaon to save money. Moreover there weren’t much crime during the foreign rule. But after 173 years the obsolete system still exists though crime graph has multiplied manifold. Today in Uttarakhand 8000 villages are under the jurisdiction of revenue police which are to be connected with the regular police establishing 68 police stations and 104 police posts. The high court had intervene in this matter and had directed the state government to transfer it to regular police but all in vain. A, proposal had also been send to the state government in this regard earlier but of no avail.
