Third medal for India. Lovlina wins bronze in boxing. Javeline thrower Neeraj Chopra defeats Germany’s Johanness

India won the third medal in Tokyo Olympics today, raising the Indian tricolour high in Tokyo Olympics. Twenty three year old outstanding Boxer from Golaghat Assam Lovlina Borgohai emulating legendary boxer n Olympians Mary Kom and Vijendra Singh today won the Bronze medal after being defeated by world champion n four gold medal winner earlier, Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey. Hailing from a very modest background belonging to Baro Mukhiya Village in Golaghat district of Assam, 23 years old Lovlina Borgohai tried her level best but could not make it to the finals as her competition was with world champion of Turkey having won five medals with four being gold.

The boxer from Turkey won against Lovlina by 5-0. According to the news updates in the opening rounds of her fight she started her attack wonderfully well, intelligently throwing her calculated scoring punches dominating initially only to lose the initiative in the last thirty seconds when her opponent, a world champion attacked her with flurry on punches, awarding the round to the Turkish top boxer.

Finally Lovlina got the Bronze medal, the third medal for India in the ongoing Olympics in Tokyo, the first two being Mirabai Chanu of Manipur and outstanding shuttler PV Sindhu from Hyderabad, having won Silver and Bronze respectively. Sindhu has now become the only Indian shuttler to win two medals one silver n another Bronze in two Olympics in Rio 2016, n now in Tokyo. Lovlina has won the prestigious bronze in her first Olympics.

On Tuesday, the jubilant prime minister Narendra Modi has said that the outstanding performance of Indian athletes in Olympics bringing medals for India is enhancing self confidence in them thus recognising the New India entity. In two tweets in Hindi PM Modi : Today the enthusiasm, warmth and passion of the Indian athletes is on the highest mode. This self confidence comes when when real talent is recognised and encouraged. This confidence comes when system changes and become transparent. This new self confidence is leading to the image of New India being recognised. In another tweet the PM wrote : This time till date maximum India athletes have qualified in India Olympics. remember, this victory has been won after confronting the biggest disaster during the last 100 years. In several games we have qualified for the first time. Not only qualifying but also giving string competition to their rival athletes tweeted Prime minister Modi.

Meanwhile Indian Japanese throw player Neeraj Chopra gas defeated Johaness Better of Germany in the Qualifying road in Jawline throw in Tokyo Olympics. In his first try, Indian Javelin thrower has thrown the javeline at 86.65 metered away defeating the Germany javeline thrower in the first qualification round. He has now reached the final round raising hopes of winning a medal. On 7 th August ge will compete in the final round.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur in his tweet wrote : Lovlina you have the best punch. India is extremely proud of what you have achieved. You achieved a medal in your first Olympics; the journey has just begin. Well dine Lovlina Borgohai tweeted Anurag Thakur.
