Apart from politics now nepotism, red tapism, corruption, favoritism and partiality has creeped into various sports bodies of the country, allegedly even in those controlled by government agencies.
The recent controversy that had erupted due to the women wrestlers protest at Jantar Mantar accusing the chief of WFI of alleged sexual harrasment etc is enough to substantiate these charges of ongoing nepotism, corruption, favouritism and partiality in sports bodies.
As if this was not enough – recently a new controversy has come to light in the context of alleged cheating in the selection process of the budding athletes for Asian Games trials that took place at Thyagaraj Stadium on 24 th June.
The accusation of cheating in the selection process was made by the players associated with KURAASH GAME.
The players said that they were cheated in the selection process openly. They therefore had no option but to lodge their protest and written complaints to the Indian Olympic Association and Sports Authority of India.
According to the latest report even after the lapse of more than a week the list of the selected players had not been released till date.
The annoyed players had approached the Indian Olympics Association office and sports ministry and met senior officials complaining about the irregularity going on in the selection process in the trials held at Thyagraj Stadium on 24 th June.
The sportswomen has complained against Congress politician Jagdish Tytler for favouritism and open charges of allegedly taking money from the players, a very serious charge as per a ETV report.
They catagorically accused the former minister of demanding money and those who’d paid were qualified and those who couldn’t were kept out of the list.
They added that despite former Congress leader Jagdish Tytler not being in any post is having his fullest say in the selection process, don’t know how and why said the angered girls.
While demanding for the retrials they said that they had performed very well but were deliberately sidelined to favour their own candidates.
They also blamed senior officers of sports ministry having done injustice with them by not including their names in the list despite their best performance, accusing them of practising the discriminatory tactics.
The officers of IOA have assured the players of full justice after patiently hearing them. The memo was addressed to the IOA chairperson P. T. Usha a renowned olympian and world champion racer.
