Today is the death anniversary ( martyrdom) of the brave soldiers of Parliament n paramilitary who laid down their precious lives while relentlessly fighting the Pakistan backed terrorists in and outside the parliament’s precincts years ago not only protecting the members of Parliament, union ministers and the staff but also the then Vice President of India on gate number 11 from where he was likely to exit. The Parliament was in session then. One of the martyrs was a security officer of Parliament Matbar Singh Negi who played a vital role ong others inside Parliament to inform other security officers and staff about the dreaded terrorists invading Parliament precincts and closed the main door of gate number 1, sacrificing himself to terrorists bullet. Living in Mandir Marg government flats, Gole Market brave n committed Matbar Singh Negi used to leave him s house at 8.15 AM every morning to Parliament House for his official duties. On 13 th December 2001 he left his government flat for Parliament at the scheduled time in the morning. The government of India has honoured him posthumously for his outstanding services with prestigious Ashok Chakra. On the sudden pre strategic attack by Pakistan backed terrorists in Parliament precincts with bombs being exploded and extensive exchange of gun fire between the terrorists and paramilitary who’s forcibly entered the parliamentary vicinity in a white ambassador firing indiscriminately with backpacks and holding machine guns, security officer Matbar Singh Negi was debuted at Gate number 11. Extremely vigilant Matbar Singh Negi while informing all inside Parliament House immediately closed the gate number 11 from where the then vice president Krishna Kant was to exit. He had done so to avoid anyone entering the Parliament house, especially the terrorists. It is said that the then vice president was one of the targets of the Pakistan backed errorists. Meanwhile Matbar Singh Negi was, attacked but despite the bullet in him, he continued to inform the security staff about terrorists entering the precincts of Parliament House. Grievous injured Negi was immediately ferried to ALL INDIA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES in desperation but he was declared dead, shockingly. Social activist Sunil Negi says that one of the roads of Gole Market should be named after him as he lived here for a quite long time. Today both the houses of Parliament will remember these martyrs for their supreme sacrifice for the nation. Those who were martyred on 13 December, 2001, a most unfortunate day in Indian parliamentary history after independence were Matbar Singh Negi, security officer Parliament , Jagdish Prasad Yadav, Security Assistant Rajya Sabha, Constable of CRPF Kamlesh Kumari, Ram Pal, Nanak Chand, ( Sub Inspector) Delhi Police, Om Prakash, Bijender, Dharampal Delhi Police constables and Gardner of CPWD Deshraj. The writer of this unfortunate incident Vivek Shuklaji was in Parliament House on this fateful day of 2001. These brave hearts had sacrificed their precious lives while relentlessly fighting and killing the terrorists protecting invaluable lives averting this grave situation n more bloodshed. While heartily remembering these brave hearts the Parliament and the nation will recall their brave sacrifices to confront n counter the anti nationalist forces tooth and nail. There was panic all around and the people in and outside the Parliament precincts we’re remembering the Almighty but it was actual the brave action of our martyred soldiers which led to avert this massive crisis and saved all inside n outside parliament’s precincts. Their sacrifice is immeasurable. Salutes.
