The government should have shown respect to the great son of India and his community says Rahul Gandhi. Ex president’s daughter criticizes Congress chief

The Congress leader and leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi has criticised the ruling political dispensation for demeaning the reputation of the former prime minister Dr.Manmohan , the great son of Mother India and the first prime minister of the country belonging to the Sikh Community by way of consigning him to flames and performing his last rites at Nigam Bodh Ghat. Saying that the former prime minister fully deserves our highest respects and a memorial, the government should have exhibited respect for this great son of India and his community but by not doing so his reputation has been demeaned. The LOP Rahul Gandhi has posted on his social media handle in Hindi that the great son of Mother India and the first Prime Minister of the Sikh community, Dr. Manmohan Singh ji has been totally insulted by the present government by performing his last rites today at the Nigambodh Ghat. Rahul added : He was the Prime Minister of India for a decade, during his tenure the country became an economic superpower and his policies are still the support of the poor and backward classes of the country. Till date, respecting the dignity of all former Prime Ministers, their last rites were performed at authorized burial sites so that every person could have the last darshan and pay homage without any inconvenience. Dr. Manmohan Singh deserves our highest respect and a memorial. The government should have shown respect to this great son of the country and his proud community wrote Rahul Gandhi on X expressing his immense annoyance over the burial of the distinguished ex prime minister at Rajghat. The former Indian Youth Congress president B.V. Sriniwas too followed suit in criticizing as Rahul did writing on X : The great son of India whose last rites should have been performed at Raj Ghat or National Memorial.Prime Minister Modi, with the intention of diminishing the stature of Dr. Manmohan Singh, has revealed his true personality by getting his last rites done at the Public Corporation Bodh Ghat. Modiji, one day you will no longer be the Prime Minister, set such an example that the next Prime Minister can maintain it. Long live Sardar Manmohan Singh said former IYC chief B.V. Sriniwas. It may be recalled that yesterday the Congress chief and leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has written a letter to prime minister Narendra Modi and also spoke to him telephonically urging him to give the final adieu to late PM Dr.Manmohan Singh at some dignified place and turn it as a memorial later on instead of consigning him to flames at Rajghat. On X – yesterday veteran Congress tweeted : Today, Congress President Shri @kharge spoke to the Prime Minister and Home Minister over the phone and wrote a letter and strongly requested on behalf of the Indian National Congress that the true tribute to Sardar Manmohan Singh ji would be to perform his last rites and establish a memorial to him.

Meanwhile, the daughter of the former President of India latest Dr. Pranav Mukherjee, Shsrmishta Mukherjee has criticised the Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and LOP Rahul Gandhi for demanding a separate memorial for the former prime minister Dr.Manmohan Singh saying that when her former president father had died in 2020 due to prolonged illness then the Congress Working Committee has not taken the pain to call a condolence meeting. Then too the late president Mukherjee ‘s daughter had come down heavily on the Congress high command for ignoring her father not giving him any respect and not calling the condolences meeting by the highest decision making body of Congress , CWC. She rapped Congress for hypocrisy. On X Sharmistha wrote very clearly : When baba passed away, Congress didnt even bother 2 call CWC 4 condolence meeting. A senior leader told me it’s not done 4 Presidents. Thats utter rubbish as I learned later from baba’s diaries that on KR Narayanan’s death, CWC was called & condolence msg was drafted by baba only wrote ex presidents furious daughter on X.
