The central government’s inter ministerial high power body visits the ecological disaster hit Dharali to assess the damage
The team first conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas of Chepado, Kotdip, Radibaghad of Tharali, Mopata of Dewal and Nandanagar and also inspected the damaged areas by road.

An inter-ministerial team of the Government of India visited Tharali area on Monday with the objective of assessing the damage caused by the disaster. The inter-ministerial central team was led by Director Dr. Virendra Singh.
Also, the team comprised senior officers from various ministries, including Under Secretary Sher Bahadur and Chief Engineer Sudhir Kumar, who conducted aerial survey and ground inspection to closely study the condition of the areas affected by the disaster.
The team first conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas of Chepado, Kotdip, Radibaghad of Tharali, Mopata of Dewal and Nandanagar and also inspected the damaged areas by road.
During this, District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari gave detailed information about the damage to assets department-wise due to the disaster through PPT in a meeting held at Kulsari Relief Center.
He gave detailed information to the team about the landslides occurring behind the houses of local people in Chepado Bazaar and other disaster affected areas.
He said that due to continuous rain and landslides, roads, bridges, buildings, drinking water schemes, power systems and agriculture have suffered heavy damage.
The District Magistrate said that the damage to departmental assets due to the disaster has been estimated to be around Rs. 1150 crores.
The District Magistrate also informed the team about the landslide taking place in Palla village of Jyotirmath development block and the landslide which is continuously active in the Nandnagar area.
During the field visit, the team also talked to the local residents and found that the transportation facility of the villagers has been seriously affected due to rain and landslides and many villages have been completely cut off from the main road.
Houses have been damaged at many places and some families had to be shifted to safer places.
The team appreciated the prompt action taken by the local administration, police, NDRF and other agencies in disaster management and relief operations.
Also, he inquired from the departmental officers about the rehabilitation work, assistance being given to the affected families, availability of ration and medical facilities, arrangements for temporary shelters and efforts to open the road routes soon.
Director Dr. Virendra Singh, who is leading the inter-ministerial central team, said that the main objective of his visit is to assess the actual damage caused by the disaster so that on the basis of the report submitted to the Government of India, necessary assistance and reconstruction work for the affected areas can be planned quickly.
A detailed report will be sent to the Government of India after compiling the information obtained from the aerial survey, ground inspection and detailed discussions with the administration conducted by the team.
Based on the report, concrete steps will be taken for rehabilitation of disaster affected families, restoration of infrastructure and long-term safety measures.
During this, Tharali MLA Mr. Bhupal Ram Tamta, District Panchayat Chairman Mr. Daulat Singh Bisht, Municipal Council Chairman Mrs. Sunita Rawat, Superintendent of Police Sarvesh Pawar, Additional District Magistrate Vivek Prakash, SDM Sohan Singh Rangan, SDM Pankaj Bhatt along with all departmental officers and local residents were present.
