Terrified Kaandi Gaon villagers demand caging of the maneater, injuring a person grievously, after killing a young boy few days ago
Inhabitants of Dwarikhal Block in Pauri Garhwal are badly terrorised these days due to the terror of maneater ( leopard) who has not only brutally killed a 28 year old young boy of Baagi village of the aforesaid block by pouncing on him while he was returning back to his village from the adjoining pastures having taken domestic pets cows etc for grazing in the evening but today a person of an adjoining Kaandi village was severely injured over the face, forehead, palm and left hand when he tried to courageously resist it who attacked him twice. The invasion of the maneater occured at early morning at 4.30 AM when one of the “Bahadurs” originally from Nepal residing in Kaandi village of Dwarikhal Block in Vichla Dhangu out of three went out. All of a sudden the maneater looking for human prey pounced on him and tried to drag him to the nearby bushes grabbing his hand with his jaws. Bahadur physically strong resisted with full force and rescued himself but the predator again attempted after tasting his blood. Bahadur fought with the carnivore courageously finally successful in getting rid of it. His hand, palm, fingers and face got injured with blood splashing around. In the meanwhile, the villagers after hearing the noise of the scuffle and Bahadur’s shouts for help the villagers came to his rescue but by the time the maneater had elapsed. The villagers are badly panicked especially the girls, senior citizens, school going children and women. A vedio posted by a villager narrating the whole incident has become viral in social media in which he has shown the terrified villagers sitting at the road head requesting the authorities viz local administration, their political representatives, wild and forest department officials to immediately intervene in this matter and fix cages to trap the maneater through tranquilisation or if possible to kill it. A gentleman of Kandi village where this incident occured narrated that the villagers are badly terrified as just few days ago a 28 years old boy was killed by this maneater at an adjoing village Baagi and today “Bahadur” was attacked with grievous wounds in another village namely KAANDI, in Vichla Dhangu, Dwarikhal Block of Pauri Garhwal district. The injured was given first aid by a doctor who was called by the villagers. The exasperated villagers said that despite a brutal killing of a young boy the forest department has taken no initiative to capture the maneater leading to another attack at Kandi , in Vichla Dhangu, under the jurisdiction of Dwarikhal Block. Such incidents of maneater attacks, lynching sever human lives have become order of the day. The school going children, women working in agricultural lands, and inhabitants living in roadside hutments near the jungles etc are the regular prey of man eaters who are on constant prowl of human flesh due to non availability of flesh inside the forests and deleting jungles as well destroying the flora and fauna, especially during summers’ massive jungle fires posing direct threat to human lives and domestic animals etc with wild life n forest department more worried to safeguard the wild tigers n leopards etc than precious human lives not even adequately compensating the hapless n poor bereaved families.
