A serious incident of landslide occurred due to heavy rainfall in Salai Band area of Uttarkashi district, in which a labour camp got caught in it. A total of 19 labourers were staying in the camp.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, the SDRF Uttarakhand Police team, under the leadership of Sub Inspector Shri Naveen Kumar, immediately left for relief and rescue work. Due to the road being blocked, the team reached the spot through a difficult footpath and started an intensive search operation as soon as they reached the spot.
So far 10 workers have been rescued safely, while 9 workers are still missing. Their search is being carried out with utmost seriousness, sensitivity and continuity.
In this operation, joint teams of SDRF Uttarakhand Police, local police, NDRF, Revenue Department, NH Barkot and Health Department are engaged in coordination in relief and search work.
Giving priority to public safety, the administration has controlled the routes and stopped the pilgrims at safe places.
