Yet another serious accident has occured near Gholtir on the busy Badrinath highway in Garhwal Uttarakhand where a tempo traveller / bus with 18 passengers on board plunged into the Alaknanda river on Thursday.

There are immediate reports of two dead, few missing and seven injured mostly grievously.
The plunge is several hundred metres down wards into the Alaknanda river after the bus went out of control.
According to the spokesman of the police IG Nilesh Anand Bharane the driver of the bus couldn’t control it , may be in speed or due to other reasons it controllably plunged into the Alaknanda river near Gholtir in Rudraprayag district of Garhwal, Uttarakhand.
This was the passenger tempo traveller commuting on this route usually.
As soon as the news reached the police it informed the SDRF team who reached the spot in time to retrieve the dead body and evacuate the injured.
The intensive search and rescue operations us still underway however. The Uttarakhand chief minister was prompt to express his condolences and grief and praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.
He wrote on X : The news of a tempo traveller falling into a river in Rudraprayag district is deeply tragic. Relief and rescue operations are being conducted on a war footing by SDRF and other rescue teams.
I am in constant contact with the local administration regarding this matter. I pray to God for everyone’s safety said the CM through X while expressing her sorrow Uber this deadly incident. The Pauri Garhwal MP Anil Baluni was also forthcoming in expressing his grief over this deadly accident praying for the speedy recovery of those injured.
He wrote on X in Hindi : A tragic news has been received that a passenger bus lost control and fell into the Alaknanda River in the Gholtir area of Rudraprayag, with extremely distressing information about some passengers being casualties. I have spoken to the District Magistrate and SP of Rudraprayag to gather complete details of the incident. The district administration and SDRF team are actively engaged in relief and rescue operations at the scene. I have also spoken to the Rudraprayag BJP District President. BJP workers are also promptly assisting in the relief and rescue efforts. I pray to Lord Badri Vishal to grant a place at His divine feet to the souls of the departed and provide strength to the grieving families to bear this immense sorrow. Additionally, I pray for the speedy recovery of all the injured said MP Baluni while expressing his anguish and concern.
