As part of the Left parties’ nationwide week-long protest from September 26 to October 2, the CPI Delhi State Council, AIYF Delhi and AISF Delhi jointly held a strong protest near Delite Cinema in Connaught Place demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and an end to the SIR.
The CEC has lost the moral and institutional right to continue in office. Serious questions have been raised over the conduct of the electoral roll revision, with more than 13 crore names struck off voter lists across 30 States and Union Territories. Even Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi have recorded objections concerning voter additions, deletions and changes to the voter-registration process. Under Gyanesh Kumar, the ECI has become a tool of the BJP. In view of the seriousness of the charges, CEC Gyanesh Kumar must immediately resign demanded the CPI leaders and activists!
The protest was led by Prof. Dinesh Varshney, Secretary, CPI Delhi State Council and National Executive Member, along with Ramraj, Sanjeev Kumar Rana and Baban Kumar Singh, Secretariat members, CPI Delhi State; Shejo Varghese, Secretary, AIYF Delhi State; Aniket Madke, Convenor, AISF Delhi; and comrades from the CPI, AIYF and AISF.
