Garhwal Heroes is the runners up, Northern Railways the champion

The Northern Railways are the national champions in the national competition held at the Kandoliya Stadium Pauri Garhwal recognised by the Uttarakhand government defeating its nearest rival Garhwal Heroes who are the Delhi Football champions for the sixth time. The VSM, Brigadier of Garhwal Rifles Vinod Negi who was the chief guest of this occasion along with the Nagar Palika Adhyaksh Hema Negi presented the cheque of Rs. 1.25 thousand to the winners team with a trophy and runners trophy to the Garhwal Heroes alongwith a cheque of Rs. 51 thousand. This five days tournament played between various teams from all over India was extremely interesting with football fans enjoying it to the hilt. The Northern Railways defeated the Delhi Champions Garhwal heroes by 2-1 who had scored the first goal with immense dexterity against the Northern Railways. The final game played between the Northern Railways and the Garhwal Heroes on Sunday , the 21 st June was inaugurated by the Brigadier,VSM Vinod Negi who is Garhwal Rifles chief posted in Lansdowne also the first citizen of the tourist hill station. Wearing a shining yellow T Shirt of Garhwal Heroes and LOSA Vinod Negi enjoyed the game to the fullest and finally met each and every player of both the winning and runners-up team and congratulated them for presenting the cheques and trophies. The energetic Garhwal Heroes in the twentieth minute after the commencement of the game scored a goal against the Northern Railways. However, before the completion of the second half the Northern Railways scored a goal in the 47 th minute equalising the score to 1-1. After the second half both the teams played the match extremely well with energy, enthusiasm and a fighting spirit but neither of the team could goal. The Garhwal Heroes had bad luck and in the extra time the Northern Railways scored a goal making the lead of 2-1 thus winning the final against the Delhi champion Garhwal Heroes and becoming the national champion in the football competition held at Kandoliya stadium winning a trophy and a cheque of Rs. 1.25.
