CBI Serves Narco Test Notice To Actress Urmila Sanawar In Ankita Bhandari Case; To Appear In Dehradun Court On Oct 23

Dehradun / Saharanpur, Oct 22:
In a major development in the 2022 Ankita Bhandari murder case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has served a formal notice to actress Urmila Sanawar for polygraph and narco-analysis tests.
According to ANI, a CBI team visited Sanawar’s residence in Saharanpur on Wednesday after questioning her for around four hours on October 18. The team served her a notice directing her to appear in Dehradun on October 23 at 10:30 AM to give her consent for the proposed tests.
The notice states: _”Now, therefore, you are hereby directed to appear in person before this Court on 23/10/2026 at 10:30 AM for the purpose of ascertaining whether you are willing to undergo the proposed Polygraph Test and Narco Test (Lie detection Tests) examination voluntarily and without any coercion…”
Sanawar herself confirmed that the notice is linked to a viral audio clip connected to the case. She said she had agreed to undergo the tests after sharing information with investigators.
Kindly recall that several months ago Urmila Sanawar, actress and former second wife of former MLA from Jwalapur, Haridwar – Suresh Rathore, had created an uproar in social media, print, electronic media and political corridors of Uttarakhand when she highlighted the VIP angle by making a startling disclosure through an audio in which the names of Dushyant Gautam and Ajay Kumar were divulged as the probable VIPs in the case, who had allegedly sought special services from Ankita Bhandari.
The aggrieved parents of Ankita Bhandari, Virendra Singh Bhandari, have been demanding narco analysis tests of Urmila Sanawar, her ex-husband Suresh Rathore and the Yamkeshwar MLA who had ordered demolition of the room of late Ankita.
As per reports, Ankita’s parents met senior CBI officials last week and sought narco-analysis tests on Sanawar and former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore over the viral audio recording. On Saturday, investigators also questioned former MLA Suresh Rathore in Haridwar.
The probe has gained renewed attention amid controversy over the alleged involvement of a “VIP” in Bhandari’s murder. The issue resurfaced following the appointment of former Uttarakhand BJP in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam as the Governor of Sikkim.
Gautam was sworn in as Governor on October 19 amid protests in Delhi and Sikkim. The CBI has registered a case to probe the alleged ‘VIP’ involvement, though Dushyant Kumar Gautam is not named in the chargesheet and has denied the allegations. On January 7, 2026, the Delhi High Court had passed an interim injunction restraining unverified claims against Gautam while the matter is pending.
BJP’s Sikkim unit said the investigation must be allowed to proceed independently while Sikkim students protested demanding that the appointment be deferred until the probe is completed.
All claims regarding VIP identity are allegations under investigation and have not been established.
