Delhi newsecological disasters

Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi expresses deep concern over the deteriorating ecology of the Himalayas. Urged that the Save Himalayas project be implemented at the earliest

The former union HRD minister Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi even at the age of 91 is as active and healthy as before. Though a little bit slim due to age related precautions, he informally interacted with senior journalists at his 6 Raisina Road residential lawns this evening expressing his serious concerns over the man made disasters in the entire Himalayan states especially Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh , Kashmir and even Punjab.

Though leading a sort of a retired life , the founder of BJP Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi interacted at length for incessantly over two hours with senior journalists Umakant Lakhera,, Anil Tyagi , Pankaj Vohra and me on issues related to the all weather roads of Uttarakhand, global warming , the degrading eco system of the Himalayas, massive deforestation and melting glaciers.

Highly critical of the present government’s policies on the so called environmental unfriendly development in Uttarakhand and other Himalayan states veteran BJP leader seemed badly worried raising several important aspects of the degrading ecological aspects of the Himalayas and the Himalayan states urging for an urgent need for a central Himalayan authority to deal with the increasing ecological disasters, degrading ecology of the Himalayas, the increasing pollution, global warming and ofcourse the apathetic government towards Himalayas, its incessantly degrading ecology, literally damaging the ecology of the hills through impractical environmentally unfriendly developments.

Giving the past several instances of his talks with the PM and other senior ministers on the degrading ecology of the Himalayas and urgent need to play with the ecosystem of the Himalayas by building massive number of Hydropower projects, deforestation in massive scale and unnecessarily blasting the mountains in the name of the society called ecology killing developmental policies Dr. Joshi expressed the need to talk on the issue of Himalaya deeply, the increasing disasters and its possible extinction and find a credible way out to lessen the consequences especially since Uttarakhand is in Zone 5 , a highly seismic zone indicative of future earthquakes , God forbid them.
