Supreme Court to hear Lakhimpur Khiri case on Oct 7 and single high court judge bench to probe it

The supreme Court of India has taken suo moto cognizance of Lakhimpur Kheeri incident and the judicial bench headed by the chief justice N.V.Ramanna will hear the case in October 7. Meanwhile, apart from the financial compensation of Rupees 45 lakhs n 10 lakhs to each family of those who died in this tragedy and injured including a government job to next of the kin by the government of Uttar Pradesh, the Punjab and Chhattisgarh governments have also announced the financial compensation of Rs. 50 lakh each to the deceased of this tragedy. As assured the Uttar Pradesh government led by CM Yogi Adityanath has issued an official order signed by the Additional Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar Awasthi for the conduction of a single retired judge Bech of Allahabad high Court to probe this case and submit its report within two months.

As per the notification issued in this regard it is said that in pursuance of the clause (3) of article 348 of the constitution the governor is of the opinion that it is necessary to hold an enquiry with regard to matter of public importance regarding the entire incident of death of eight persons in Lakhimpur Kheeri district in dated 3 Rd October, 2021. In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Commission’s of enquiry act 1952 ( Act No 60 of 1952) the governor is pleased to appoint retired justice High Court, Allahabad, Shri Pradeep Kumar Srivastava as a single member commission of enquiry with Headquarters at Lakhimpur Kheeri to submit its report if the findings within two months in from the date of the issuance of this notification.

After the meeting of Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Punjab CM Charanjeet Singh Channi and TMC leaders with the kin of the deceased farmers the BJP leader n son of Maneka Gandhi has also expressed his solidarity with the farmers through a tweet expressing his concern. He posted a video and tweeted : The video is crystal clear.Orotestors cannot be silenced through murder. There has to be accountability for the innocent blood of farmers that has been spilled and justice must be delivered before a message of arrogance and cruelty enters the minds of every farmer tweeted Varun Gandhi.

The Congress general secretary has demanded dismissal of the union state minister and action against his son as she fears that the investigations in the case can allegedly be influenced if he remains as minister. It may be recalled that five farmers and three BJP workers which included a driver have been killed in the Lakhimpur Kheeri tragic incident with videos being shown in social media n electronic TV news channels regarding farmers showing black flags allegedly being mowed down by the speeding vehicle and the driver of the vehicle allegedly beaten with lathies etc.
