
The Delhi government’s Hindi and Garhwali, Kumaon Jaunsari Academies yesterday organised a grand show of dramas in Hindi and Uttarakhandi dialects at Technia Institute auditorium at Rohini. These plays are enacted every year by these academies of Delhi government with some aim to encourage and instill a sense of confidence among school children to act on stage and to also utilise their summer vacations constructively in creative activities.

This initiative of the Delhi government academies are lauded tremendously as through these events not only the small children in various schools of Delhi Government are taught the tricks of short plays in Hindi language, dance styles of light and classical music, on the other hand apart from folk drama, folk dances and Aipan (Aipana) art of Garhwali and Kumauni languages, for the first time the mask dance of Silur village of Pankhanda block of Chamoli district was included and played dexterously inviting tremendous cheers and applaud.

Kindly recall that this mask style dance is now being preserved as a world heritage by UNESCO.
According to one of the judges of these competitions Dr.Satish Kaleshwari, an eminent literateurer and writer including Uttarakhand’s actor – children of various Delhi schools were trained in the above mentioned techniques for about three weeks, which they learnt with great enthusiasm and dedication in the scorching and humid heat of Delhi. Thereafter, their performance was also arranged for the parents and other spectators.l who enjoyed the presentations to the hilt being an enthusiastic participatory audience.








As a sequel to these ongoing presentations of dramas – on June 25, 2025, in Katyayani Auditorium, Delhi, Puneet Public School Vishwas Nagar Shahdara, Vidya Bhal Bhawan Secondary School, Mayur Vihar Phase 3, the centres of Shashi Public School Majholi Road Shahdara, Great Mission School West Vinod Nagar, Abhinav Bharti Model School Sonia Vihar offered their wonderful performances.
On 27 June, 2025 the students of Abhinav Public school, Peetamapura, St. Giri Public School, Rohini, D.B. Convent School Burari, Abhinav Public School Pitampura and Burari presented Hindi plays Nachiketa, Budhiya Fans Gaya Chakkar Mein, Bhakti Zindagi Ka Natak, Garhwali folk drama Jungle Ki Or, Ganesh Vandana based on Bharat Natyam style, classical Vandana and Dashamavatar at Technia Auditorium, Rohini .
The notable presentation was the mask style dance which is now being preserved as a world heritage by UNESCO, performed under the direction of Dr. Kusum Bhatt.
In the above competition, apart from Hindi language, the jury for Garhwali and Kumauni included K.N.N. Pandey “Khimda” and Dr. Satish Kaleshwari.
This competition continued from 12 noon to 6 pm. Academy secretary Sanjay Garg was overwhelmed by all the performances but he was very pleased to see the mask dance performance.
He also praised the staff of all the schools, their directors, assistant directors and coordinators and congratulated them for such good presentations.
