State Mourning of two days throughout India on 6 th n 7 th February declared by Union Government in honour of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar
The Union Government has declared two days state mourning to pay respects to legendary veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar who breathed her last this morning at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai sending shockwaves across the country.
According to the official circular issued to all the chief secretaries of all state governments, administrators of Union territories, secretaries to governors n Lt governors of all states, Union territories and administrations the government of India has announced profound sorrow on the death of Kumari Lata Mangeshkar who died on 6 th February at Breach Candy hospital.
The circular adds : It is with profound sorrow that the Government of India announces the passing away of Sushri Lata Mangeshkar today. As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, the Government of India has decided that there will be two days State Mourning from today throughout India. The government decided a two day state mourning as a mark of respect to be observed on 6 th and 7 th February with the national flag to be flown half mast throughout India with no official entertainment being followed. The government if India will accord the state funeral to the departed soul, the date and time will be intimated later.
