State cabinet accords approval to concrete Land Act of Uttarakhand

The Uttarakhand government has finally accorded its consent to the concrete land act, a protracted demand lying pending for several years and the various social organisations including the opposition political parties demanding it through protest demonstrations and Dharnas in entire Uttarakhand.
The cabinet committee of the Uttarakhand government chaired by its CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has given their consent to this act which was indeed a long pending demand. The Uttarakhand chief minister had formed a committee on this under the chairmanship of the formed chief secretary of Uttarakhand Subhash Sharma which had submitted it’s report to the CM, who had assured of implementing it in the future.
While announcing this, the Uttarakhand chief minister said that the cabinet committee has given its consent to the new amended land act of Uttarakhand thus honouring the sentiments of the electorates of Uttarakhand.
The chief minister said that this historical decision will protect the rights of the citizens of Uttarakhand including its cultural heritage to maintain the demography of the Himalayan state.
Stating that his government is fully determined and committed to safeguard the interests of the inhabitants of Uttarakhand he further assured that at no cost would the government break the faith reposed in them.
This new act will definitely be successful in keeping the demography and existence of the state intact.
The new land act after being unanimously passed by the cabinet committee has abolished all the amendments made during the rule of Trivendra Singh Rawat who had opened the ceiling for buying land for the outsiders’ rich and ultra rich measuring more than 12.5 acres thus opening floodgates for sale of Uttarakhand land as much as they can.
Now there is a restriction on the purchase of land for outsiders except 250 square metres of land for just residential purposes.
Barring Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar now onwards there is total restriction on buying of land in eleven districts of Uttarakhand for horticulture or agriculture purposes expect allowing 250 square metres land for houses.
The government will implement chakkbandi and Bandobasti in Uttarakhand to adequately manage the lands in villages under the new law.
The government will introduce a portal which will register all the lands sold to the outsiders to keep proper records and to exercise adequate checks.
The outsider buyers will have to submit an affidavit while buying lands in Uttarakhand to exercise checks on fraud sales and other irregularities in sale purchase of land.
This law will exercise checks and restrictions in the uncontrollable land sales and buying by the outsiders including the hilly lands will be maintained under a better legal system n new land act thus benefitting the locals and the Uttarakhand inhabitants.
