Sr. Advocate Collin Gonsalves gives a new ray of hope in Ankita Bhandari case. Says can file review petition in SC after alleged disclosure of the VIP’s name
The senior advocate of Supreme Court famous for taking up the Pro Bono cases Collin Gonsalves who was fighting the case of Ankita Bhandari demanding a CBI probe to nail the VIP who was demanding special services from an innocent 19 year old girl leading to her brutal murder in a BJP leader owned Vanantara Resort on 18 September , 2022 has given a new ray of hope that this case which was closed first by the Uttarakhand High Court and then by the Supreme Court can now be reviewed from a new angle to demand a CBI probe under the monitoring of a Supreme Court judge after the startling revelations made by an actress and wife of the former MLA of BJP from Haridwar in a video clip of telephonic conversation between both husband and wife.
The veteran Supreme Court judge Collin Gonsalves had filed the Special leave petition in the Apex Court on the pursuance of the activist, journalist and advocate Ashutosh Negi on behalf of the traumatised parents of Ankita Bhandari after their appeal for a CBI probe was revoked in Uttarakhand High Court who’d expressed its fullest satisfaction in the then ongoing SIT investigations of Uttarakhand police.
Though the three culprits in the case who were found involved in the brutal murder of Ankita Bhandari have been accorded the rigorous life imprisonment but the VIP behind this tragedy is being allegedly protected by the ruling political dispensation said Senior Supreme Court advocate Collin Gonsalves as according to him the CCTV camera in Vanantara resort was made out of order deliberately, all the evidence were buldozed by the local BJP MLA Renu Bisht on the alleged instructions of the CM and the bedsheets etc thrown in the swimming pool with the sole intention to wipe out all the evidences.
Mr. Collin Gonsalves was speaking to a news channel “Umakant Lakhera” and answering to the questions posed to him in relation to Ankita Bhandari case.
Expressing his serious concern over the pathetic attitude of the Supreme Court judges turning down his SLP demanding CBI probe in Ankita Bhandari case despite giving enough evidence of the deceased Ankita’s chat with her boy friend expressing her apprehension of being insecure and killed the other day in which she has written about the pressure being exerted on her to render special service to a VIP including urging him ( friend) to take him away from here at the earliest, advocate Collin Gonsalves said that a part of judiciary have become saffronised and allegedly protecting the interests of those in power.
He unambiguously said that the way brave advocate, journalist and activist Ashutosh Negi was arbitrarily arrested also indicates that the powers that be have special interest to protect the VIP behind this entire episode.
He made it absolutely clear that since the name of the alleged VIP has been made public in social media and print media including in TV channels a fresh petition can be filed in Supreme Court to review the entire issue about the VIP name’s disclosure as the Supreme Court had while closing / keeping this case in abeyance had clearly said that in future if during trial the new developments like naming of the VIP etc reoccur, the Supreme Court can be approached for justice. He said that he’s reviewing all the applications and definitely file the review petition in Supreme Court in this regard.
