The Pani Satyagraha started by Delhi’s cabinet minister and water affairs in-charge Atishi Marlena at Jangpura Bhogal was disrupted today when some protestors entered the venue and raised slogans against her in connection with the ongoing water crisis.
The protestors were raising slogans against the incarcerated DeIhi chief minister Arvind Kejrival who were forcibly turned out of the Satyagraha tent by AAP volunteers.
It may be recalled that today is Atishi Marlena’s second day of hunger strike which was commenced yesterday after she and other AAP leaders and ministers Saurabh Bharadwaj, Sanjay Singh , MP and Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival’s wife had paid their tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
The Communist Party leader D. Raja and several national as well as Delhi state leaders of CPI had visited her Satyagraha venue and expressed their solidarity towards Atishi’s relentless struggle against the central and Haryana government for not giving Delhi its due water share resulting in acute water crisis in the national capital especially when heat waves have led to several deaths with power demand crossing 8675 Megawatts, the highest demand ever.
Meanwhile, the Delhi state Bharatiya Janata party president Virendra Sachdev has in his social media handle wrote :Kejriwal has given a new model to Delhi, ‘Hunger Strike Model’.
To hide water theft and corruption, a sham of hunger strike is now being done in which the hunger strikers live their lives according to their own will and become Satyagrahis at the time of taking photographs.
The entire government machinery of AAP is busy in the game of getting bail from jail; they have no concern with the interests of the people of Delhi.
The way political protests are going on ignoring public interest, the situation seems to be more difficult in the future because the kind of water logging that was seen in the light rain yesterday shows the inefficiency of the AAP government, I request the Delhi administration and the Honorable Lieutenant Governor to take cognizance of this situation mentioned Sachdeva on X.
The New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj criticizing Atishi Marlena asked what kind of Satyagraha is this as Atishi is going in the AC room and resting and eating fruits etc. She termed the Satyagraha as SHAM. Responding to the harsh remarks of New Delhi MP , Bansuri Swaraj, AAP’s outspoken MP Sanjay Singh hit back strongly and wrote on X : FRAUDSTERS OF BJP SHOULD KNOW THAT WHOEVER sits on ANSHAN , THEIR MEDICAL CHECK UP IS DONE BY THE DOCTORS . MEDICAL REPORTS ARE PREPARED. SEND YOUR MINISTER, SEND NAYAB SINGH SAINI at the venue. IF YOU ARE WRONG GIVE Delhi ITS DUE WATER SHARE .
In a video message sent via her social media handle on X , Atishi said that the Haryana Government is supplying 110 MGD water less to Delhi adversely affecting around 28 lakh people suffering from parched throats during the ongoing scorching heat waves in the national Capital.
