Sidhu extends his gratefulness to Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka for believing in him

Riding on high spirits after becoming the president of Congress party in Punjab nominated by Congress high command, former veteran cricketer and the king of oratorical skills Navjyot Singh Sidhu has not only started his poster and banner war in Punjab by eliminating the Punjab CM’s hoarding from Punjab Congress office but also putting his huge boarding in its place and also graciously thanking the Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra declaring that his campaign to make Congress victorious in the state elections have now started with full vigour and vitality.

In his tweet the newly appointed Congress chief of Punjab by national party chief Sonia Gandhi not caring about the disenchantment of Punjab CM Captain Amrinder Singh n his cronies, Sidhu wrote : Am thankful and grateful to Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi who’d believed in me and bestowed on me an important responsibility as the Congress chief of Punjab. We will, by following the Punjab model and 18 points programme of the party in order to fulfil the ” Victorious Punjab” Slogan will work with everyone Congress leader and worker in Punjab. My journey has now started tweeted Punjab Congress chief Navjyot Singh Sidhu.

In addition to this he has also shared a picture of his father with former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru said that my father had, leaving the Royal family joined the freedom movement.

He wrote that his father had shared prosperity, privileges and freedom with everyone and joined the liberation struggle against British Colonialists.

He added that his, father was accorded the death sentence by the British but was later on granted relief through King’s amnesty who thereafter became the DCC president, MLA, MLC and later on advocate general.

It may be recalled that after several months of incessant friction and war of words between captain Amrinder Singh, Punjab CM n himself who had earlier snatched the important portfolio from Sidhu and compelled him to resign, was finally appointed the Punjab state Congress president by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi giving rebuff to the Punjab CM n his lobby, who are still opposed to the central High commando decision to unilaterally appoint Sidhu. There had been several rounds of meetings in the state with ministers n lawmakers by Captain Singh n Sidhu.

The Congress chief Sonia Gandhi too held two meetings with Sidhu, Harish Rawat, the Punjab incharge general secretary and Punjab CM. But finally decided to appoint Sidhu as state chief giving a severe jolt to Punjab CM.
