Condition of 2785 schools in shambles

After the horrific tragic accident of Jhalavar government school building collapse in which more than twenty students were injured and seven died sending shock waves all around there is a need to open our eyes and ensure that other buildings in Rajasthan and elsewhere are alright and if in bad or dilapidated condition should be immediately repaired or renovated to ensure that the the students are safe and secure in the near future. If we go by the statistics of such poor conditioned school buildings and their collapses including subsequent deaths of children the situation is extremely gloomy and worrisome as if I citing future tragedies. Now take the case of Uttarakhand primary and middle schools, even intermediate colleges, almost three thousand villages are empty of population and so are the schools especially primary and middle schools. Similarly the condition of school buildings in Garhwal and Kumaon division are extremely bad and worrisome with several schools lacking proper furniture, and building leaking during rains and walls likely to fall including non availability of requisite furniture and almirahs etc. Majority of the primary and middle schools have less children and more teachers. There are schools where the children are less than five and same number of teachers. In few schools even one child is studying and teachers are in five numbers sitting idle. According to the latest statistics in Uttarakhand’s Garhwal and Kumaon divisions the condition of 2,785 schools is extremely worrisome awaiting accidents or tragedy. There are several schools whose roofs are stationed in the support of wooden poles or wooden support. The students are studying under the apprehension that the roof may fall anytime. In Chamoli Garhwal in order to protect the VerandaH a support of BURANSH WOODEN POLE HAS BEEN USED. There are smart classes going in in some schools but in majority of primary and middle schools the condition of school buildings are terrible and need immediate renovation and reparing. According to a news report published in 2022, then 2,318 primary schools and 1,565 secondary schools were in shambles while the education department stated then that Uttarakhand has 1,565 dilapidated buildings. After three years rather than the dilapidated buildings being renovated the figure has gone up multiply unambiguously explaining about the government apathy a d utter negligence.
