SHOOT OUT IN DEHRADOON, (R) BRIGADIER Joshi KILLED, WAS IN MORNING WALK, INCIDENT OF ROAD RAGE

Retired Brigadier V.K.Joshi was killed in an early morning shootout in Dehradun. The Firing took place during a dispute over overtaking between Scorpio and Fortuner. Retired Brigadier was shot while on morning walk

According to information received from Dehradun’s Rajpur police station, the control room received reports of firing in Johri village at 6:50 a.m. today. The control room immediately informed higher officials and the Rajpur police station. Upon receiving information about the incident, the SSP Dehradun, SP City, and other officers, along with Rajpur police, arrived at the scene.

On enquiring about the incident, it was found that a dispute had taken place between the occupants of a Fortuner car with Delhi number plate and a Scorpio N car near Malsi on Mussoorie Road over not giving way to another vehicle, in which the occupants of Scorpio N chased the Fortuner car and fired on its tyres to stop it.

In the firing incident, a person , a retired Brigadier who was taking a morning walk on the road was accidentally shot and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

In the said incident, the Fortuner vehicle went out of control near Government Primary School, Johri village and hit a tree on the roadside, after which the people in the Scorpio car beat up the people in the Fortuner car and damaged the car.

Two people travelling in the Fortuner car were injured in the incident and were taken to the hospital by their companions for treatment. All those travelling in the Scorpio car fled the scene after the incident.

SSP Dehradun and other officers went to the hospital and collected information from the people related to the incident. On the instructions of SSP Dehradun, a blockade has been put in place in the entire district and intensive checking campaign is being carried out to search for the accused involved in the incident.

Information regarding the people in the car is also being collected through CCTV cameras installed at the incident site and on the roads leading to and from nearby areas. The retired Brigadier, who was injured by an accidental bullet during his morning walk, died in the hospital during treatment.
