





Hundreds of Uttarakhand Mahila Congress activists led by its chief Jyoti Rautela has today protested by taking out protest Women march the state capital, Uttarakhand against the badly deteriorating law and order situation and lack of women safety and security in the Himalayan state.
The angered women activists of Mahila Congress holding play cards in their hands were raising slogans against the Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the ruling BJP government.
They tried to break the police cordon and as a result the police and the Mahila Congress activists including its president had skirmishes and finally were arrested.
Several other women activists courted arrest and were taken to the nearby police stations in police vans and prison buses.
Accusing the ruling saffron party government of the state, the Mahila Congress chief Jyoti Rautela said that the BJP government has not only maintained silence over the atrocities against women but has also weakened the constitutional institutions and turned the police and administration into weapons of such crimes and a shield for the criminals.
She said that the law and order situation in Uttarakhand is almost non-existent – and the negative attitude of the BJP Government towards the day-to-day increasing crimes against women is extremely worrying.
This boldness of the criminals is a result of the total failure of the administration and the unsafe environment prevailing in the state due to which there is restriction on the freedom and aspirations of women and daughters said the outspoken women leader of Congress party Jyoti Rautela.
She emphatically said :
The government should seriously consider and explain how long it will turn a blind eye to the responsibility of protecting half the population of the country! The protest demonstrations by Mahila Congress activists was termed as the Nyaya March for the distressed women.
