Several Oak trees cut illegally by unknown culprits in Jeharikhal, LANSDOWNE

The jungle mafias are too active in Uttarakhand. In Jeharikhal, Lansdowne, Pauri Garhwal several fully grown trees of Oak ” Baanj” have been cut. There is protest by the local women and the Youth Congress activists who have warned the forest department, senior officials of the revenue department at the site to come at the spot and lodge the FIR against the unknown wood mafias and investigate the matter vigorously to punish the guilty ensuring that no such tree cutting takes place in future. In the past too several trees were allegedly cut arbitrarily in the Lansdowne jungles and of course at the time of the construction of a five star hotel though may be through legal permission. The Youth Congress activist / leader has said that the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami appeals to plant one tree in the name of one’s mother, but asked : On whose father’s name are these fully grown up oak trees are being cut illegally. The youth Congress leader who was furious enough asked the revenue/ forest officials to instead asking him to file an FIR against the unknown culprits who cut these trees to use their good offices to take immediate stringent action against them and bring them to justice forthwith.
